so the zipper opens a compartment? I thought it expanded the bag (which didn't make sense cuz the zipper doesn't go all the way round). neat idea but doesn't everything fall out when you unzip it? I'd love to see a pic of it open.

Mammab - just read your post! Funny how we both have different opinions on the bottom part! But, I can see how if you have kids, that part could be useful.

Hi Coug What color did you get? I wanted Whiskey but figured I had too many whiskey bags already.

Yeah, it's a pretty refreshing thought being able to keep my little guy's things seperate from mine when I don't really use them that often and use my wallet and other stuff more. We'll see. Although I do wish they would have made the top part a little bigger and decreased the size in the lower part.

Once he's out of diapers (which is probably in the next 6 months or so) I won't have much to put in there.....

unless we go for baby #2.....hmmm, there's a thought! Then I'd have a ton of stuff to put in there. I know, I am terrible!

I'll take a picture. I thought the same thing too, that it opened up the bag to make it bigger.

I just got that "zippy" bag as well (from nordstroms) I like it because it fits easily over the shoulder and generally looks good. Negative aspects are that the top of the bag is not that "deep" because of the zippy portion underneath and it is sort of wide (I'm 5'6" so it looks ok in proportion). I'm not sure how useful the bottom compartment is going to be - you can't really get anything out of it unless you put the bag down and unzip the bottom. For that reason alone, I think the tote may be more practical. BTW - I also saw these bags at Neimans.

I totally missed your post cougess -- thanks for the explanation, it's very helpful. those are exactly the things that make this bag not work for me: the shallow main compartment, the wideness and the difficulty in accessing the bottom compartment. but it's great looking and if it works for you, you're lucky!

I have the same color - ivory.
The zipper goes around 3 sides of the bag - the side opposite from where the zippers meet in the front is connected to the back of the bag. I'm going to Nordstroms tonight to see what other options are available....I don't think I'm going to keep it.

I agree, I can see the bottom part as a pain unless you store things there that you need when you go out, but don't use often. In my case, kid paraphanelia.

I also thought of another use, this bag would be perfect for weekend getaways as you can unzip the bag from all 3 sides and the bottom opens up, kind of a like a mini luggage, so you can actually put a day or two worth of clothing in there (summer clothes, definitely) and they'll lay nice and flat.

i went to chloe in South Coast and there is one metallic and one python silver and it hated it. It felt like plastic leather

I love your bag mammab, its gorgeous! i really wanted that one, but when i went to Bergdorfs in NY when i was on holiday and i saw the off-white paddington and i had to have it, i wish i had waited now, your bag is lovely! Hope you enjoy it, im really jealous lol

Can some one give me an opinion? I got the Ivory Paddington from Nordstrom and to my dismay there is a couple of minor scratches and tiny stains.The SA would not give me a price adjustment and told me that I could wait for their next shipment, however they would not honor the price I bought the purse. I would have to pay the increase...so I took the purse. Now the real problem is that the leather at the top of the handle dosen't match along with the bottom. Does anyone else have this or am I being a little too nit picky?

I know, that bag is adorable. I almost got it, but since I have the whiskey in that style, I broke down one this one.

This is a great color for spring/summer! Bring on the warmer weather

Do you mean the texture of the leather doesnt match the bottom of the bag or the bottom of the handle??

You are the one that has to be happy with your bag, so if your not 100% satisfied I would return it and wait for the one you really want.

It's hard to see the flaws you noted in the photos but if it were me, I'd deal with the manager of the handbag department versus the s/a who sold you the bag. NM gave me 10% off my Noir bag because of a small peel on the back of the lock and a few minor knicks on the key. That $155 savings was worth it to me since the hadware is going to knick up eventually.

That said, I am not following the part about the price increase. Did you purchase your Ivory last year at the old price point, or is this the new Ivory (Blanc) at the new price point? If your bag is from last year, I can understand why you were refused the price adjustment since so much time has passed. However, if you just purchased the bag and noticed the flaws upon getting it home, they owe you something.

This leads me to ask the question: If your bag is at the new price point of $1480, is Chloe raising the price yet again in the next shipment of bags? I sure hope not!

^^^ yes, my SA at Nordies told me that there will be another price hike on new Chloe; I believe it was $1560 for the non-metallic paddies starting in March.
