Thank you beaumonde for the info! Karma to you! :flower:

So it sounds like you bought the rain & stain spray, and not the leather cleaner or conditioner? I recall someone (roey?) saying not to bother with one of those.....

yes, I'm in rain-central too.... :p

I used the leather care lotion (mostly to work on some scratches), then the garde. Just followed their directions! I did use the lotion very sparingly though.

You'd condition, let dry, spray the first coat of rain/stain repellant and let dry and then spray the second coat.

Ok then after you've done this, every time you want to spray again (like every 2 months or so right?), should you repeat the conditioning process first again?

Also, if the bag is sprayed, is it ok to regularly condition it in between sprayings or is that bad for it?

If it doesnt need cleaning/conditioning just spray when needed. If you condition it you'll need to spray afterwards. I thinks bags in heavy rotation need to be sprayed conditioned more often.

I had the same 2 tone thing on the first season tan paddington I breifly had. It personally didn't bug me much :)

What I mean about the piping, is that the color coating on the leather rubs off and underneath theres a suede like material. Becuase it doesn't have that smooth finish the coating does, it gets dirty very very easily. It's not really horrible and is only around the back corners.

ooh goodie i havent noticed the piping yet, hiopefulyl i never will have to^_^ i think the 2 tone actually is quite unique =) im planning to get the rain aplle garde now...since its always raining in vancouver. but i was actuallly yhinking in getting something from the gap and you know the bag that they use..the plastic bag that can be closed up by the strings..im plannign to put that in my bag so if it rains i can use it and tighten ths tstrings up =]

ugh I hate fedex/customs. My returned bag has been sitting in Italy for over a day  The estimated arrival date is the 16th but who knows if it will make it. But LVR did finally get back to me, once they receive my return they'll ship out the mousse.

nawth, after almost 2 weeks, LVR got back with me. gave them an option to give me a discount and i could have the stain removed.
here's their reply:

we apologise for the defected bag you received. Unfortunately we do not have
any Chloe' Paddington Classic Colour handbag left available in colour
chocolate to exchange with yours. Therefore, there are three options:

1)to return the bag and we will send the defective bag back to Chloe's
warehouse and wait for a new one (this will be a quite long process)

2) otherwise return the bag and ask for the refund

3) return the bag and exchange it with a different item

We look forward to receive your reply regarding how you would like to
process with your order.

Best Regards,

Chiara Giardi
Customer Service

now, they don't even have the choc or any of the classic colors. i think i'll wait till you settle yours before i decide what to do. it seems very frustrating to do a return with them so i'm leaning towards keeping my choc, spare myself the headache and have the stain removed at a leather shop here. unless you get a perfect product from LVR, it sure is a pain  to deal with them in case of a problem!

So you guys have heard all about my Blanc "issues" The leather being so friggin flat looking, etc. Well, I just can't get over how LUCKY I was to get the paddy of BG's website with the most amazing distressing. I was just sitting here on the pc and happened to look over at my paddy and it looked so, so, so beautiful that I ran and got my camera and took pictures.

By the way, I have in my car, the 3 blanc hobos that are being returned. I can't believe how horrid the leather is on them. Every-single-one. Flat, Blah, and the hardware, all those little studs -- they are like a deep dark green color! Not like the hardware on my blanc paddy which is a beautiful deep brownish golden color.

The whole experience was a pain to go through -- ordering from all over the place, waiting....waiting....and waiting....but after all of the hassels, I have finally found my one and only true love.

Here it is!! I'm posting them as attachments b/c I understand you can post larger pictures that way???

Enjoy!! I keep having to give her a 'squeeze'

Oh and one thing y'all may find 'weird' is that since I am w/child, I happen to carry diapers, sippy cups, toys and then all my stuff so I figured out to unbuckle the side straps, twist the leather straps around and tuck them under the handles so when I open up the bag.....VOILA....everything is right there. Just love it. Love it!!

mammab, the leather on your blanc paddy is just so gorgeous!
just curious, how much does it cost to return a bag?
I'm jealous that some of you can order several bags and choose the best! sighing......

Is apple guard okay for the metallics?? And is this a leather protector? I want to protect the leather...

Is this what the apple garde bottle is supposed to look like? I found it on www.leatherstuff.com.
Is there another site to buy and where do I get the conditioner??

Hi ladies...I'm considering buying the medium pocket paddington in black, and SoCal's pictures are making me even more determined!! Thanks for the goodness on page 506 SoCal!! :flower:

Two questions: Firstly,is there a way to tell whether "Noir" now is proper black or that off-grey affair that emerged in the autumn? Because the blacker the better for me...

Secondly: I have only ever bought a top from Luisaviaroma...what is their service and quality like with bags? The pictures are so awful!!

Oh and thirdly...in pictures the pocket paddy seems like a more square shape..higher and shorter than the classical Paddy...is this so? I would prefer it different, rather than that it be a classical Paddy with a pocket.

Thanks for any help..:flower:

I bought a Paddy Zippy from them and my experience was great. I ordered on a Wednesday and got my bag on Friday... everything was wrapped nicely and the bag was in pristine condition. The only hesitation I'd have in ordering again is that returns are pricey and a b*tch, and the return policy (bag must have security tag still attached) is crap compared to NM, BG, Saks. The major plus is that I saved approx *$400* by ordering from them! I'm still waiting to learn that the price was a mistake but at this point it seems to be true.

One thing maybe I should mention. My bag is the new Taupe color and it has a strong paint fume type smell (that has faded a bit over time). The new leather is VERY different from the old and not nearly as soft. Part of me wonders if this is a flaw but since I haven't seen this color in person anywhere else I can't be sure.

Oh, here's a pic, I don't think I've posted it here.

I just went to page 506 to see the pic quirky is reffering to and saw all of socal's paddys. Wow, you have so many! great collection ^_^

bijin - sorry to hear your LVR woes. True, I think they are not fond of giving discounts to fix problems perhaps because they know they have their customers over a barrel due to the cost/loss of shipping. Too bad you don't have better shopping options where you are :(

QuirkyCool - IMO, LVR seems hit or miss. Some people here have had really great experiences with them, and I came very close to having one (but missing key). But if your item is a 'miss' then they don't seem great at resolving things without money out of YOUR pocket. Perhaps since you are in the EU you would be taking less financial risk ?? (in US we don't get duties back & return ship is expensive)

SoCal - 2 more questions on the pocket paddy - is the handle drop longer than on the satchel?? And there is no slip pocket on back of bag like the satchel, correct? Thanks! :flower:

Blu: I do have a few more crummy pics but the one I just posted looks closest to the real color. The one I posted on page 507 looks really off and the other pics I have are too. This color is really hard to capture in pics!

Thanks anyway Daisy66 - I know how that is! Yes, the pics I see here, on eBay, LVR and NAP all look so different, and I'm far from a retail store... guess that will help keep me from being irresponsible!

I saved $240 on the satchel (lower price point than your zippy) including shipping, import tax & Fedex fee, and currency conversion fee from my cc company, so you're probably safe with the $400 estimate - right on!!

My experiences from LVR have been excellent too. And you do save $$$. But given some of the problems I've read about on this board, I think that if I order from them again, I will contact them and ask them to please carefully inspect any item before sending it to me - and if there is supposed to be a key or a detachable strap or something of that sort -mention that specifically.

I asked/told LVR specifically before ordering that I did not want a "return" bag - and they guaranteed me - no return - it would be brand new straight from the factory yada yada. Well it came without a security cord, a key/leash, and had a retail sales tag attached INSIDE the bag - so don't know if it was a return but it appears it's from the floor of one of their retail stores.... the bag isn't beat up, but they weren't completely honest...

I don't know how much control the customer service folks have over the orders once they are placed... :(
