Chloe Paddington Bags (February 2005 - March 2010)

How are paddingtons in terms of weight? I'm thinking of getting a medium or mini but am worried since people are saying paddingtons are so heavy.

regular paddies are really heavy coz of the lock, i have the baby paddington and of course it is so much lighter, i could carry it the whole day without getting a strain on my shoulders..

the new ones are not bad! especially the ones with the enameled padlock! but i think you will never get a bag with amazing great leather that is that light unless it's goat like motorcycle bag!

My (medium) weighs about 3 lbs. It doesn't kill me by any means to carry it round all day. What do the small weigh, out of interest and if any one has some scales handy? Mine are quite wildly inaccurate by the way if any one wants to correct me on the weight!

Can you still close your handbag if you remove the padlock ? Is the bag less cute without the padlock ?

Sure, you can zip it closed but you obviously can't lock it closed. I think it's still cute without the padlock, from far away it basically looks the same, since the think the padlock locks onto is a big hunk of brass anyways.

Even if you lock the bag, it's still fairly open anyway I think. I never lock it as I cannot be bothered fiddling with the key, removing the padlock, moving the leather hook-thingies etc etc. Much easier to flop the padlock into position without locking the leather straps up.

I think the bag looks naked without the lock. It doesn't make that much difference to the weight if it's there so I wouldn't remove it.

Oh and beware, mine seems to be self-opening at the moment. Only happened twice but I'm on tenderhooks as I certainly don't want to have to buy another padlock.

I agree with Womanolo. It looks naked without the lock.

I love my Tobacco Paddy, but I rarely wear it! It's too heavy for the day-to-day.

I'm sorry I need to clarify, I was refering to the 07 paddingtons. I'm finding that the leather is a lot more smooth and sometimes there are weird smooth/grainy combinations all on one sides. Mostly the paddies that I've seen are a lot more smoother.

Many people seem to be finding that the leather on the 07' paddies is less "smooshy" less thick, and less pebbly. Some people also think the hides are cheaper, even though Chloé has raised the price of the paddington. I think the new paddies are just more structured and if that's what you like, more power to ya!
