The majority of this is hideous, no cohesion at all. From an average look to an absolutely terrible one...

Calm down and watch the video:flower:

Not that it helps, really. It's an incoherent mess and while there may be few nice pieces, they get lost in the unflattering styling.

Overall the choice of fabrics and the way it's all put together makes it pretty uncomfortable to watch. I'm already sorry for Marion Cotillard if she's going to have to wear any of these.

I guess I'm the minority that finds this beautiful from beginning to end. I've liked what Raf has done these last few years at Dior, but perhaps haven't really cared much about it in passing other than "nice dress" or "interesting concept." This however, has me enamored. The set, the clothing, the music-everything about this just feels right. Oh, the detail...

I like the colours, I like the shapes but I feel totally lost, looking for the bigger picture

I'm also gonna go out on a limb and say that I think this is pretty good offering from Raf. While far from effortless, the clothes don't feel as labored and painfully awkward as some past shows. The color palette is fun and charming and the bodysuit/miniskirt combination is actually really cool.

But, as others have noted, what is the big picture that Raf is going for at the house? He likes to bounce from one idea to another, but none of them ever feel totally worthwhile or relevant or effective, and they never contribute to an overarching main idea. I appreciate such creativity, but I can't help but feel that Raf lacks a serious sureness of hand at Dior.

I think loud (prints, colors, pastels, paillettes, belly "rings", patent leather) and retro (I'm sooooo sick of these badly cut 50s grandma skirts and 60s minis) don't agree with me or Raf Simons. Why isn't he doing more of those Jennifer Lawrence Oscar dresses? Lemaire has been so good in translating his menswear talent into gorgeous womenswear for Hermes, but Raf Simons seems to be designing for a weird, bi-polar type of Dior socialite, simultaneously old, frumpy in the shapes and styles of her clothes and delirious in her choice of colors, prints and embellishment.

Raf, what is wrong with using neutral colors for women??

Andypolanco, I sometimes like bad collections. Quality is one thing (more objective) and taste is more subjective. I'm just curious to know what is what you enjoy about this.

I enjoy it because its something new and not typical. I hate seeing the same silhouettes. Also the colors are really amazing if these pieces where solid you guys would hate it because its boring. But the colors bring it alive for me, the shoes also make it way better. Its supposed to be futuristic so I feel like this is futuristic.
I look forward to dior shows because everything Raf designs is clean and made perfectly. Of course he's made some ugly things for dior but overall I love the way its put together.

This is not ugly, its OOOGLY.

Start to Finish, yikes!

Ugly and boring!

I think the video proves what no one here has discredited - the construction of the pieces is beautiful and there is a bunch of items that is great. The problem lies within Raf's whole vision for the Dior woman.

i love raf i love his signature...i've been a fan of his since the beginning so i have great deal of respect and admiration for his vision but his tenure at dior has been a little confusing to me. first couple of seasons were fantastic but the they've kind of lagged since. to be honest i get the impression that maybe he's got in way over his head....you can sort feel the pressure he has in this.....it's too over the top. this just isn't who he is. and you have to admit it's a lot to have to keep up with....being inspired doing his own line and then having the responsibility of designing and overseeing three different lines at an iconic house like dior with all it's corporate trappings.....i think he's overwhelmed himself.

I agree with this comment, however I hope he is more intelligent then to drown himself. It seems he works under two very different mechanisms, emotional ( RAF )and unemotional ( DIor ) and we have already seen three collections from him within three weeks both men and women of a very high quality. Plus didnt he bring out a some new shoes for Adidas and he also more importantly has to have a LIFE. Im am pretty sure that not alot of us on here could do that, including me.

SO! I like this collection a lot, regardless of what going on in the background. ESPECIALLY the colour. the hair, the shoes, the bodysuits, the dresses held together with a small silver hoop. the sequins. It is well designed, though not for everyones taste. It may no seem to flow but that seems to be Raf's style, awkward and disjointed. Some looks are whatever, so what ever. But do you think he is worrying about that he has another collection to think of in a couple of weeks. let it go move on like he is.

Me @ Raf

To the left, to the left
Everything you design is in the trash to the left

Thank you!

It's incredible how differently people can see the same thing. I actually think this is bad because of the exact same points you made.

I find this very old and passé. There's nothing new in here... Even Karl did those catsuits some years ago. Not new silhouettes but, in fact, the same ones he has been doing since the beginning. Plus, in this show he has used some that are very related to Prada/Miu Miu. Not that they are Prada's property, but if I designed for Dior I wouldn't take an inspiration that has been already done to death (60’s) and do the same thing one of my competitors is famous for doing.

And I actually find this anything but futuristic. It's one of my main concerns with him. People think he is modernizing couture for showing pants (which was done in the past... some decades ago even). His shows are usually very prom-like. Very 'old-couture'. Nothing futuristic at all. But maybe it's just me... When I imagine something futuristic I wouldn't think of this… never ever. When I think of a 50's 60's revival I'd do.

And in terms of execution, and afraid of sounding pretentious, I find many of this dresses very poorly done. Like if they were finished in a rush... Which is crazy, because this is couture, and it could be deliberated, but it doesn’t look deliberated at all…

My problem with this collection is that it has too many ideas that don't necessarily work well together. There are several looks I did not like at all. At the same time, big part of this collection was gorgeous with some beautiful cuts and silhouettes especially towards the end. I also really liked the shoes. However, it feels like Raf is still lacking something when it comes to creating a couture dream. It's not that the clothes aren't good but there's something missing. Sometimes I feel like he's trying so hard to be modern and ends up with something forced and quite vapid. Contemporary designs should come as a natural evolution, not a forced push, otherwise fashion feels empty.

I agree

He is super creative, there are plenty of great ideas but they are not thought through. I wish he would take more time to perfect less ideas, instead of throwing in all his ideas half baked. There is obviously an editing problem.

There is nothing new in his ideas...all have been done before.. so sick when Raf says that what he's done is a look to the future but everything was done from the great designers of the past!

Finally this does not look Dior to me at all...looks like a horrific Raf Simons couture debut of Courreges.
