Christian Dior HC S/S 08 Paris

Very very sad. I hold Galliano to such a high-standard and to see this is really frustrating. I love the leopard gown, but the rest is just really too deja vu for me. Usually his spring couture collections are really good too.....

Chanel Iman being in the show is enough to make me love this! :woot:

the shoes and bead work are so wonderful! I must admit dior has done better, but this is still really good. the shoes and make-up are great as well, but unfortunately some of the models can't handle such intense eye make-up.

however i am definitely not feeling the head-gear.

There are some obviously beautiful pieces, but I miss the toughness and the aggressive streak of the Dior woman of the late 90's. The colors are stunning and the geometric embroidery is interesting (if very new-Chloe), but it's just alot of the same kinds of dresses he's been showing for awhile now. It's very over-the-top girly and dragg-ish, but Dior used to be rebellious and sensual.

Bring back the insane outfits, because these ball gowns don't begin to showcase the extent of John's talent and imagination.

wtf is this monstrosity?

oh wait. forget that later because I'm probably gonna love it in a bit.

I also agree that there is a lackluster feel here -- the same materials, the same color palette, even the headpieces are slight modifications of what he has already done. This would've been a proper time to change his vision completely, but I understand if he's still enamored with previous ideals and wanted to complete a specific outlook he had.
As much as I really like this collection, I agree. I really want to see a huge change in Dior, something a little less ladylike, but we all know that's impossible with all the pressure John is getting from the Dior execs, who seem to be forcing him to produce ladylike, ladylike, ladylike!

Well hope it is like that time where McQueen was under pressure to do more commercial and it didn't quite work out like planned so he's coming back to form.

The past few collections are merging in my mind now :( This looks like a bunch of outtakes (or whatever the fashion term is :p )

yes! this is the perfect way to describe it-- outtakes from previous collections.

I like it, but I feel like we've seen it all before. Kind of expect more from Galliano, It is all very beautiful, but I was hoping for something more.

im so disappointed. i virtually like none of it, and i ALWAYS adore whatever galliano does. it seems like i've seen it before. and i mean, it surely extremely well done, and all, but i generally get blown away at first sight but now its just ''ok?''. :(
but i'll wait for the enitre collection... he might suprise me still.

Hopefully Catwalking has the whole show this time...

Ai Tominaga's outfit is enough to make me love this collection forever.

I also LOVE Natasha's and Suvi's coats, too!

I'm REALLY liking this!!! I'm so anxious to hear what the soundtrack is like!
