Looks like there is a lot of love for Helen and Forrest, they may be the 2 to beat. Best pic and director are all over the place, I still say Marty and The Departed will take it. I can't see The Academy rewarding Clint yet again.

Glad to see The Fountain and Little Children getting recognized.

Factory Girl is turning into a never ending mess so looks like Sienna's dreams of oscar glory (like they were ever going to happen) are off.

Curious to see who the GG's nominate.

Awards season 2007

The Golden Globes were announced today. They are the first of many more awards nominations to come until the Oscars.

Here's a link to the noms:

I'm really glad Brad Pitt and Babel got nominated. Other than that I'm not really sure; haven't seen too many movies lately.

What do you all think?

Oh, forgot to mention that I'm really happy about Grey's Anatomy's nominations too!

I haven't seen many of the movies either, nor the series. Though I'm glad to see Helen Mirren nominated for playing both Elizabeth's, I'm glad Jeremy Irons is nominated for Elizabeth 1 as well. Also all The Thank you for smoking nominations, Steve Carell for the Office, Kyra Sedgwick for the Closer, Sarah Paulson for Studio 60, and Felicity Hufman for Desperate Housewives.

I'm quite pleased with this ^_^
- I'm sure I forgot someone though...

I love that Leonardo but not one but two nods for his work! yah for him! he was splendid in the Departed.

dlg

BEYONCE?!!!

Ugh!

I'm more interested in what the nominees will bring to the fashion scene. Thank goodness for Cate Blanchett.

I am so happy that Brad was nominated.Babel is simply amazing and i always thought he is a great actor but wrongly overlooked because of his looks.etc
I truly hope Brad wins and not just a Golden Globe but an Oscar too.

When are Golden Globe Awards?

^yes I have to agree with the beyonce assessment. Has that movie even come out yet?
I think it hasnt come out ...so if no one's seen it yet, how can they be disappointed with the nomination?, maybe she did a good performance..

anyway, a proper ':buzz: ', I'm so excited for this, definitely rooting for Penelope Cruz and Will Smith...wishing Babel gets something..and crossing fingers for Pan's Labyrinth or Volver [at least] to get the best foreign film category. surprising how a movie from the USA [apocalypto] is also a nominee for foreign film... i thought this was about foreign productions and not foreign languages... :ninja:

:woot: ... rooting for these as well ... pan's labyrinth slightly more than volver :buzz: :crush:

Two for Di caprio. When I saw the news this morning, I was both surprised and impressed. Hmmm...no one can call him Titanic Boy now  It's odd, with all the actors who are pidgeon holed after one iconic role, I'm happy that he managed to break through stereotypical castings and can hold his own as an actor :flower:

I'm so pleased Emily Blunt was recognized for TDWP. She was a large supporting addition to what is already making that movie iconic, I believe. Meryl Streep, of course, carried the movie, but had it not been for Emily, Meryl alone would be what veiwers remembered leaving the theater, not the broader satire. Emily's quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

And she was nominated twice!

I know. both Leonardo and Kate have really defied expectations...Kate was well-known for her work but Leonardo was often underrated.. I think it's great that he's taken seriously now... maybe because he's no longer appealing to teenagers. :p

I didnt want to see the departed, or Babel...but now I sorta do.

"Little Children" was a good performance by Kate Winslet. That film was very disfunctional
