Gucci F/W 08.09 Milan

I literally hate it - etno vibe mixed with lot of fur. Another collection, another disappointment, mrs. Giannini -_-

my thoughts exactly.

hippie nightmare!
(not that im usually a gucci fan but hippieish influeces are always a huge NO for me and thats making it worse than usual ahah)

it's odd. I mean I really actually like the look they are doing and it's very summer, but it's also very sienna miller circa 03/04. This whole gypsy, boho, moroccan thing so.....

some interesting accessories, but same old same old. it's getting annoying. some magazine please slam giannini

It is the first Gucci collection I like since Mr Ford left the fashion house..

Bowie in fall 2006, rock, texmex ethnic summer 2007, a lot of glam, a lot of Zara style... I don´t like.

Well. At least the hair was nice (if one was a homeless person).

I hate to admit it but it's actually not bad at all. :ninja: I am pleasantly surprised, I can't believe I say that:ninja:

I like it. When you decide to do patterns, it's nice if you execute them well, which she did. Some of the gold details are fantastic as well. It's refreshing to see this power woman look again. It was absent for awhile.

I like it so far very much. The print is great and the long dresses looking very promising. Can´t wait to see more. Love the 70s inspiration.

I really hate to admit this, but I'm actually quite fond of a few pieces.
I really wish she would just step out of this whole remake every decade in existence concept.
On the other hand, I really don't find anything groundbreaking but it's not as bad as it usually is.

I don't dislike it but it looks like it was way too inspired by Balenciaga F07 & S08. I mean the carpeted runway, the tribal mixed prints....

^ I hate to be a pain, but Gucci has been using a carpeted runway since like, 2000.

And Nicolas was definitely not the first person to do tribal/ethnic sampling.

^ I don't know how true that is. She creates trendy, basic clothes that aren't as expensive (with the exception of the furs she does) as a lot of other designer brands have gotten.

She's basically like Zara for the faux upper crust.

Interesting comparison. Don't know how true that is, but if what you are saying is factual then I have to give her props for that. I don't like most of what I see here, though I do think this line will be pretty popular/ in high demand.

Well IMO the bags aren't that great, at least the ones with the logos. But then again I might be biased since I'm not really fond of logos. Or Gucci for that matter:p (even though it's not that bad)

it's not bad !...actually the first looks are very interesting

so far i am not liking this boho-ish direction that i am seeing. but i need to see the entire collection before i make a final judgment.
