Unfortunately though, those pictures still show the Amethyst being on a much lighter side on the darkness scale as compared to T&D's Amethyst. That's okay I still love the bag and the dark fushia color is gorgeous, even though it is nothing close to the real Amethyst. I think it is still a great pop of color and I can't wait to take her out for a spin in the sun! I probably just won't carry it into a boutique as I do with the other T&D bags.. hehe

I would too, except back in 05, bal didn't make the part time style nor the giant hardware I have passed my T&D bags as some other color than the "official" T&D color, but this time it won't fly for me cause of the style/hardware inconsistency. Just want to keep this note out there for the girls who might want to call their part-time or giant hardware bags Magenta, too.

Honestly, I think the auth amethyst and magenta are so close and there are so many differences in authentic Bals as it is, no one would question you if you say it's amethyst.

Edit: if people have difficulty discerning authentic magenta and authentic amethyst, I wouldn't stress too much about it. It's not as major as T&D's aquamarine which looks nothing like authentic aquamarine or turq.

right, but like the DL bags (and also the metallic coach sabrina bags now that i'm thinking of it), the metallic is in the leather with metallic bals, not sitting on top like many other metallic leathers. i really don't know how to explain it, but you can all see what i mean once i post pics. it's like brushed suede metallic if you're familiar, but straight leather instead.

That's the thing, I don't think IRL authentic magenta and authentic amethyst are close at all. and the difference between T&D's Amethyst and the auth Amethyst could be as great as issue with the the aquamarine or turq.
Just saying, as someone who has seen authentic amethyst multiple times IRL, I think it is a totally different color from T&D's Amethyst. and I was really just posting it to see if anyone else that as seen both IRL feel the same way cause I was truely suprised to find that no one else has mentioned it yet.

Maybe I need to see auth amethyst and T&D amethyst next to each other but from remembering what amethyst looked like IRL, mine looks about right?

yeah irl, the auth magentas and amethyst i've seen aren't close BUT in several pics at tpf they do look very, very similar (of course we have to take into account lighting, how often the bag has been used/exposed to the sun, etc.). different batches of leather take dye differently, blah blah blah. auth magenta is very, very saturated while auth amethyst (this is speaking from the ones i've seen irl) is far darker with distinct purple undertones.
