Hey all,

I think Shelleybean asked this...

I went to her office and she popped up from her chair and walked over to her couch, which was piled high on one side with folders, a coat, her purse, etc. "Um, I opened it. There was no name on the outside..." "Yes, but my phone number is on the EMS label and I never received a call or an email from you to the company stating there was an unidentified package"....
Ahaha, I love this story. I guess your CFO is a shining example of the Peter Principle? Oh Lordy. I'm just glad you got your bag back!! What a relief. I can imagine her sitting in her big fancy office chair, twiddling her fingers Mr. Burns style, thinking about what to do with it. Good job on the cover story. We all have an Aunt Mia in Guangzhou somewhere....

oh man smkelly. i loathe her already. she probably wanted a free bag badly! :(

bagalicious i was super shocked when i got my ame rh city since i couldn't wear her over my shoulder. my black city fits over perfectly and it's not comfortable. i guess it does stretch over time! the shoulder strap on my black city stretched a loooot so i can't wait to break in this ame.

coco i have to get a mulberry alexa too. i really hope jacky or catty make the medium version though!

Hey Coley,

FYI, I suggest a 40cm, as they are rarer and if details are a bit off, no one could instantly go HEY THAT'S A FAKE. My friend is a VP at a huge entertainment company in L.A. and has an auth. Chanel tote, and bought Joy's 40cm birkin with PH. It looks fab and no one suspects its anything but authentic because of (1) the size and (2) she carries it as she does the auth. Chanel. The stitching is great, is on a slant, and the imprints look right on.

Good luck! I'm off to look at Jacky's stuff now...

Shelley

SMKelley Thanks BUNCHES! I definitely decided on the 40 cm. Catty's look FABULOUS. (I also picked out a wallet - might as well do the thing properly.) Thanks much for the idea. I like the 40 cm as I feel it will sit better on my frame. (I'm 5'5) My first Executive decision is to go with the Classic - Black. Red to follow! Yippee!

We're having lots o' discussion about carrying the Birk and why or why not and who can pull it off, which is great! :) I think if you can pull it off, you can. The reality is, there are people carrying auth that are being looked at like ???????? while Olivia is strutting her stuff with a rep Birkin and dollars to donuts most people had no clue. :D I love it!

I'm not too worried about people calling me out about a Birk - and yes, Shelleybean - cause Jane Birkin in a sweatsuit told me not to!  (And believe me, I'm as far from Jane Birkin as the East is from the West!) And Shellybean, baby, if anyone could pull off a Birk I feel CONFIDENT it would be YOU!

I think at this point, I just want one. I'll deal with "OMG, is that a REAL Birk?!" cross-examiners as they come. I've got a million and one outfits to wear it with; a plan for the summer to make it my main squeeze and a cozy spot on my bag shelf for it. :D

Thanks Pinkalicious- i just re-read your post from 3 days ago, never having owned a T&D city I was unaware of handle drop and so on, so thanks for confirming that, i was begining to feel like the incredible hulk:lol::flower:

i wouldnt carry a birkin that bigger than 35cm. no matter how "big" u r. the birkin is not slouchy enough. even though the weekender is 20inches (which i think is 50cm, BUT it's soft. the birkin is BULKY , IMO

All this birkin talk is making me want one...my mum has a couple of auth birkins and 2 reps and im buying her another rep but i dont care if its perfect because my mum would rock it with all her escada suits and tods loafers and she just has THAT birkin style. me on the other hand, I want a birkin SOO badly and kind of want to buy my first auth one myself- i dont know to prove something to myself like 'hahaha im earning enough to spend £4k on a bag whoo' so until then im gna have to buy the reps

but...i wear soo many slouchy things and im a bit too 'rock n roll' for one, whilst all my friends would believe its real because of my lifestyle and the ladies at the chanel counter who have blowing all my cash wouldnt doubt it for a second...i dont want to have some snarling madam in a tesco queue somewhere whispering to her friend behind me 'THATS FAKE'

believe it or not ive actually started trying to clean up my style just so i can buy a birkin, ive relinquished my black sabbath band tees and ripped jeans and have actually worn crisp white shirts with chinos (and a pair of scruffy converses- but being too scrubbed up and clean isnt my thing) on many occasions-my boyf now thinks im crazy, hes like 'all this for jackys gorgeous ostrich 35cm sienna birkin' and im like ' YEAH'....but im probably really pushing the boat out with an exotic skin arent i? damn it rep chanel 2.55's are so much easier to rock, throw on some french sole ballet flats, ray bans and attitude and noone will dare judge you...why isnt hermes as easy? why?? WHY?!?!?!

and talking about rep 2.55 (i just love them) have been poring over cattys patent red flap and i think its adorable! just wondering does anyone have any chanel flap reps from catty? just wondering if the gold 'rubs off' the cc, cus i hate that so just want to know

To those on the fence about the Birkin, I'm right there with you.

While I can pull off the "I'm such a lady" vibe with proper clothes to accompany the whole Birkin image (at least in my mind) it's really not my style.

A few years ago, I went to OMAS and ordered a custom Picotin in Olive Togo leather. It was $200 out the door.

And I LOVE IT. OMAS is such a pain in the *** to deal with though, even tho its new sales person is much better than Tony, the guy I dealt with.

I have to admit, if I were the type to rock an alligator Hermes, I'd totally go to OMAS and sell my car get an alligator Birkin for $2-$3K. Sure beats the unattainable $75,000 price tag on the authentics.

At some point I may get an OMAS alligator clutch or something. But I really want to be that rockin' 40-something and eventually 80-something with the badass vibe that young ones look up to.

Anyway, enough rambling for now. My head's spinning. More later. :p

Hey all,

I think Shelleybean asked this...

So the end of the story is this, but first some background. I (in my former life) was a chief financial officer for many years. Had the MBA, the corner office, the crippling responsibility, etc. Quit the biz totally when my CEO went all Enron. I am now a full time writer and editor in the the beauty industry. Even though I'm making half what I'm used to making, it's all about attitude and everyone at work and in the biz thinks I'm a nice Miranda...anyway...

Our CFO defaulted her way to the position because she's been with the company for 25 years, having started in the mailroom after graduating from working fast food at Carl's. She knows what she knows only because of rote learning and does so many illegal things it's not even funny. She's white trash and is threatened by me because she's seen my resume.

That said, she called me after I sent out a blanket email asking about the package and describing it to a "tee" although I hadn't seen it yet. "Shel, I think I might have your package."

I went to her office and she popped up from her chair and walked over to her couch, which was piled high on one side with folders, a coat, her purse, etc. "Um, I opened it. There was no name on the outside..." "Yes, but my phone number is on the EMS label and I never received a call or an email from you to the company stating there was an unidentified package"

So she fished out (from beneath the pile of folders, clothes and general crap) first the envelope and finally the bag in its dustbag.

She couldn't look me in the eye. "Thanks for keeping it safe." I said, "It was a Christmas present from my Aunt Mia; the style hasn't debuted in the states yet."

"Um, I'm glad you found it.."

Yeah, I am too.

Now come ON. I KNOW she was hoping no one would claim it. She is no fashionista by any means, but I know she's heard of LV. Can you imagine her thought process? There IS a possibility that she figured I was ordering a knockoff, but whatever. She has no way of proving it without drawing serious shade onto herself.

And now for two detail some pics courtesy of me. Again, from what I've seen on the vuitton website, it looks identical. Oh frabjous day!
:flower:

Also, I've included some detail pics of the NBF black work with RH. As bagalicious noted, it's a soft black. Took a shot of the mirror back against a pair of isotoner gloves and a cotton shirt to show the differences. See all the tiny white spots? Those are actually silverish sparkles. Weird, I know. But beautiful.

Happy Sunday, all!

Your boss sounds just like my mum's!:angry::angry:

I really dislike people like that. If you feel threatened, go improve yourself instead of doing nothing(being lazy) but amping up the politics. she is SO dishonest it's not funny.:angry::angry: Why did she even opened up the package to begin with anyway if it's not hers?:yuk:

But wonderful bag! I hope you carry it to work everyday to remind her of her shameful behaviour. It does make a good office bag anyway right? :innocent::lol:

SMKelly What's OMAS?

Also, does anyone know if everything NBF has is on their ioffer page? Because I'm looking at some regular hardware day bags and all they have is just raisin. I want a bubblegum pink colour with either RH or GGH!

BTW, who makes a better mulberry bayswater?
And a Classic chanel 255? looking a gold hardware.

Here are mod pics of my bags :D Enjoy~

From left to right: Framboise day GSH, BL city GSH, Maldives day RH (top+bottom), Mogano work RH (from awhile back). For your reference I'm 5'6'' and my sister is 5'2'' (she modeled the maldives day or the one with the bear head). FYI, I stuffed my framboise w/ magazines to break it in so it kind of looks bulky compared to the maldives. As I was reading a couple posts back, some of you ladies pointed out the O rings on the day and city so I'm gonna have to take my bags to the cobbler once my rings arrive . The leather is also very dry on the maldives and slightly dry on the BL and framboise so I will probably have to condition it later. Oh and please excuse my pink socks haha... My house is freezing :innocent:.

PinkPrincess113: I hope to get the Larger sized Oak Alexa as well! I think it will be made. I am going to check with Catty to see what she says.

SMKelly - imagine if she actually kept your bag and carried it to work...hahahaaa. yea who cares if she knows it's a rep...too bad for her she doesn't know where to buy the best reps around :p

knowing how good quality your picotin is, do you think you'd shell out $1200 for an Omas birkin if you were looking for one? if the details and quality were that accurate...i would think about it.

has anyone seen an Omas birkin in person?

missdaisychain i think it's funny how far we will go just to carry a certain bag. sometimes i have to change my outfits just so i can wear a certain bag, because i want to style it right. ahah but i totally agree about the birkin thing. it's such a gorgeous bag i'm sure you will be able to pull it off :)

viasarah the GSH framboise day is gorge! it looks like the handle stretched, or is that what it looks like with a lot of stuff in it? when i carried the day empty, it looked so weird. i want to give it another try and stuff it as much as i can to stretch it out!

ViaSarah - congrats on your purchases! love the day style on you. that maldives looks soo yummy :flower:

I totally relate! It's why I haven't ordered a Kelly rep, and probably won't for a while. I love the look of Kelly bags (and prefer them to Birkins, actually), because they're so timeless and elegant. I just don't think my wardrobe is sophisticated enough to carry off such a bag! Maybe when I'm a bit older :)

ViaSarah: I like how your Blue Layette looks like a totally different colour than the others I've seen.
PS-don't tell your sister, but I think she might be 'adopted'

Nice cover story SMKelly. That sounds like the kind of made-up-on-the-fly crap that spews from my mouth from time to time. I have a "really good friend" in China that gets me Prada and Gucci flats for like 30% cheaper than I can get them here. *wink wink *nudge nudge.
How is your Picotin BTW? Are you still carrying it? Has it held up nicely? Is it the MM or PM size? That is definitely one Hermes that I could carry off. Aren't they around $2K-something retail?

BAGALICIOUS congrats on your new black city, :)
l'm for sure getting vert gazon gsh wallet- love that color combo :)
