London shopping

^ Sorry, can't help you really (I think they stock them in Urban Outfitters flagship store at Oxford Street, though), but if I am not completely mistaken, TFS has a Cheap Monday thread... wonder if people there know? Sorry if I am not much help! :flower:

I live near Oxford street so i'll see if they actualy have cheap monday jeans in urban outfitters store!

thank youu!!

Whitelinen-Absolute Vintage in Spitalfields is a good vintage shop,I would say the clothes there are reasonably priced.

TinTin Collectables in Alfies Antique Market,Chuch Street is good for costume jewellry.

Rokit and Rellik in London are both pretty good. Also Beyond Retro.

I think for vintage it depends on which part of London you are in,the East End is pretty good.

As for Portobello Road Market,it all varies on season and weather. I don't think it is closed at any specfic time but I could be wrong.

I'm not a massive fan of Covent Garden Market,I would say that was rather Tourist Aimed (The far end of C.Garden from the market is better)

rokit in brick lane is not that good though, the one in CG is much better!
Beyond Retro is cool!

Oh, thanks for plenty of tips :flower: Mind if I enquire some more?

First of all, about the prices. I have only been to the vintage stores along Portobello Road - One of a Kind for example. My problem with London vintage is that whilst the variety of clothing is incredible -most of it seems good enough to a museum- it is completely out of my price range, plus it seems that you need to make an appointment to some places. I would like to find less high-profile vintage (and hopefully also lower-priced) from London. I am not after anything designer (I wish I could be!) but rather just style from the past decades.

Tin Tin Collectables sounds like my place! I stayed near it last summer, I have now found out. I definitely want to check it out in February!

Do you mean with Covent Garden Market the one inside and around the market hall? Because if so, I do agree that it is indeed quite lousy. I do like the shop that sells Victorian toys there though... oops, I a straying a bit off topic now :p

What about second hand clothing... any good places?

PS. I know I should ask about this in the Topshop thread, and I have already but never got a reply. Anyway, how long in general does Topshop stock its items in its flagship store on Oxford Street?

Cricket - Liverpool shopping

Has anyone ever been there? I went yesterday and it is just amazing! They have literally hundreds of fabulous handbags, clothes, shoes, etc. Really worth a look in. Lots of the footballers WAGS tend to go there and I have come across a few of the years in there.

Anyway, yesterday I was very close to buying the most gorgeous Matthew Williamson rabbit fur coat which was £850 in black. The only thing that stopped me was the belt which I thought looked cheap.

Anyway, just wondered whether you guys have ever been in there and what was your experience?

^That shouldn't be in the London thread

Whitelinen,I hope I'm not too late in replying

Give me maybe 1 day to sort myself out (I have flu and am running at a snails pace!) and I should have a list of more vintage places to go,South of the river (less well known) ;)

East London is probably your best bet though, having said that I havent been to London since September, now living in the furthest city from it  but I'll be back in December so the store better be ready for me!

Hey guys,
I am soooo happy! My father told me that I'll get a London trip incl. Shopping money for christmas and my birthday.
We'll travel to London on 12-26-08.
I've been in London for a couple of times yet and I have some favourite shopping places (Carnaby Street, Urban oufitters, Kensighton High Street,...), but are there any insider tips and places I should know? :flower:

Thanks! :)

Anyone knows if Harrods, Harvey and Selfridges will kick start their sale on boxing day???

^Harrods' sale is to begin Saturday 27th December at 9am. To my knowledge Harvey Nichols will be on the same day.

As for Selfridges I'm not 100% certain, but I would hazard a guess at it being the 27th as well.

i would say the same. they all start around the same day :)
possibly a day or so here and there so they can get the same amount of crowds...

Any thing in particular you were looking for? Alot of sales have already started. Harrods already has alot of sales in various depts.

where can I find the best second hand shops? I heard Brick Lane has some..

Brick Lane has some pretty good second hand shops but most of them sell overpriced merchandise. Don't kid yourself, some of the clothes are more expensive than shopping at Top Shop Shops in Gothenburg and Sweden are much better. :flower:

Yep i am from Liverpool and always hear about Cricket.
I went in a few months ago and although its not a huge shop i was suprised by how many Balenciaga bags they can fit in one shop. I was in love <3

I second Dover Street Market. Absolutely go there!

There's quite a big circuit I like to do sometime actually, start off at Harrods, then Harvey Nicks, up to DSM, Bond St, Browns and then along to Selfridges. It's a bit of a trek though!
