Marni for H&M

I am really conflicted about this collection. There are few pieces that I want to take a look at, but the idea of lining up at 7AM is really unappealing. And I have a job, so I couldn't just stand there for hours until 10AM when the doors open.

Also, at the prices, you could almost just buy some mainline Marni on sale. But at the same time, if there are any pieces that I really like (perhaps more than mainline Marni because these look a little more flattering shape-wise), I would still want to buy them for the price!

I'm not sure what I am going to do! I am thinking of running over to the H&M during lunch on the opening day, but I'm not even sure if that's worth it.

Marni on sale? Maybe but I was in the New York boutique a few weeks ago and the men's bag (two toned non-leather)was about $1100+. I think this H&M version will complete me for only $100.

I'm very underwhelmed by the whole collection, but that may due to me not expecting to get the designer look with these collaborations, but instead fun pieces to add to my wardrobe without paying designer prices. I am probably in the minority but the Versace was actually one of my faves...

I don't mean to get off topic, and I'm not even sure if you were responding to my message, but one can certainly find Women's Marni clothing items on sale for a lot less than the bag you've mentioned here. I quite often see Women's blouses on sale in the $150-200 range, which are indeed a season or two old, but not much more expensive than the $70-100 blouses you see in this collaboration.

The H&M collection is certainly less expensive compared to mainline stuff, but I'm just not convinced that the price point is that much of a difference to be worth it to waste time lining up, grabbing what you can, hoping it fits, taking a gamble that it is well constructed and of a nice material... I would probably be more likely to take that gamble if it were cheaper and I had lower expectations. At this price point, I really cannot avoid comparing the H&M pieces to the Marni ones that I already have in my closet (and have lasted well and remain relevant after years)

Yes prices have been posted. I was invited to the preview last night for Canada and we got notebooks in the bag with the lookbook in it including the prices.

Here are some photos from last night:

I'm disheartened by the prices. I had my eye on the blue trench from the first round of press photographs but I can't see myself investing $150 blindly. Maybe I was naive for thinking otherwise.

i'm sorry to be a pain, but where is the link with the prices? I must be blind or tired.. i can't find it.

The short sleeved striped men's jumper is £39.99 and 100% Cashmere? The pricing really is not bad on this collection at all, despite some of the comments.

Realistically I'll be buying the sunglasses, yellow shorts and probably one of the printed shirts I think. I love the scarves but just not sure I'm up for a neckerchief. I want the black leather sandals too but need to see how those look on. One false move and you're a 60+ holiday maker I'm sure.

Yikes! They've altered the returns policy hugely, and are now only giving you ONE day in which to refund them. I suppose that's to stop all the E-bay drama, people buying in mass only to return when it doesn't sell..

Returns from the designer collection are accepted for 1 day only. The items need to be in perfect condition (unworn/unused) and please remember to bring your receipt! Note that accessories and underwear are not returnable for hygiene reasons.

Yikes indeed.

I already calculated my purchases: both bags, hat, s/s jumper, cropped sleeveless parka. still undecided on glasses, khaki cropped pants, and sandals. I am dark skinned and short so I don't want to make a wrong move...may have a lady in line pick me up a womens belt though. Anyone know what happened to the silver pumps (not for me!)?

The men's bag is infact leather. Esquire got their credit wrong it would seem. The product page on the H&M site says it's canvas and real leather.
