Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

This thread is pretty soul-crushing. All of you men advising women how to deal with harassment would do better to listen to what's being said than to give advice.

I'm an old girl now, so when the world is friendly to me, it's just being friendly - but that wasn't the case when I was Lindsey's age. As a young woman, so many people in the world saw me as a 'thing' and friendly chat was just the start of their attempt to get me to do what they wanted.

If you said 'no' to the interaction, you were making them unhappy, you were stuck-up, you were being unfriendly. And if you dared to complain, you were stepping out of line, causing a fuss, making life difficult. You receive so much blame over something you didn't want nor invite in the first place.

Not the men in this thread surely? Both Marc10 and Benn98 have acknowledged that women struggle with harassement from what I can understand. And the rest of us are women (in this specific discussion).

Or maybe there was something a few pages back I missed? My memory is not perfect. * shrugs *

What on earth could make her think taking and posting that picture would be okay?

^I don´t see how posting her bad experience is a bad thing. As others said, Uber seems to take no legal responsability. So then I think it´s up to users to warn/inform, street justice! :boxer:

^I meant the woman who posted the naked picture of the elderly woman on Snapchat.

^ Well, when I saw this on the "news" the whole incident screamed "lawsuit in the making". It was such a stupid, unnecessary, unappropriate and rude act of this "model" to do. You just can not do something like that, it was a public disgrace.

Charges Filed Against 'Playboy' Model Who Body-Shamed Woman At Gym

Talk about your instant karma ...

Recently I witnessed a guy who appeared to be coming on to a barista at Starbucks, arguing that 'surely you have 15 minutes.' She was responding with very good humor, which I would not have been. It continually amazes me the extent to which (some) men can interpret anything a woman does as interest in him, as well as the extent to which many believe they have a right to pursue a woman, stare, look her up and down, etc. I also find this doesn't really disappear with age ;) I don't think it's the initial move that's necessarily out of line, it's when they get a message to back off and refuse (a la Starbucks guy) that's really irritating. Have some consideration for women as human beings ... we do not exist for your entertainment.

I also knew a guy who called women who rejected him (in perfectly fine, not mean ways) nasty names, and just became furious. The sense of entitlement, and also complete lack of understanding of how this whole thing works (i.e., some people will be interested in you and some won't, doesn't matter who you are), is just mind-boggling to me.

In my experience, you can project a bit of armor on the street that prevents a lot of this, but at work, like the barista, is where you're really trapped.

I think she said she only meant to send it to a friend and that it was an accident that it was made public.
But either way, it was a stupid and a mean move from her. -_-

No you're right, it wasn't all coming from men at all and I probably assumed gender in some cases as well. Not to bump this after we've moved on, just wanted to be clear. :flower:

That model took the pic of a naked woman in an LA Fitness locker room. I used to go to that gym, I'm pretty sure they had signs in the locker rooms saying taking pics is not allowed inside the locker rooms. She broke the gym rules, and the law apparently. Also, does she not realize that beauty is not forever and she's gonna be old too eventually? Probably won't seem so funny then...

I can just see her desperately trying to come up with any excuse and that one seemed so plausible. I'm not buying it. She invaded privacy on an innocent person who clearly is at the gym to try to get in better shape, and I hope she enjoys her jail time.

It was callous and mean-spirited of her. And to think, that as a cause of her action, other self-conscious women may shun going to the gym.

Kate Upton is tweeting/ranting about some baseball voting thing right now, not too sure what it is but it looks messy of her.

And the Gigi/Perrie thing.... girl... mess... why she gotta bring Gigi into it when it was her relationship with ZAYN.

Well I thought from the stories that he was banging Gigi while he was still with her and it isn't like Gigi wouldn't have know that they were together sooo...she deserves what she gets.

Has anyone seen this posted by Hana Jirickova? I can't believe the client asks models about the number of their followers. How lame is that?
