Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

 Now she is claiming that she's cancelled her "comeback" because of the comments people said on her IG yesterday. Digging a deeper hole i see.

As if the comments were about her comeback, they were about her being a transphobe.. i can't.

Canceling her comeback ... Some things it really is better to do for yourself.

I am ready for something good to come out of Russia for a change ...

I ripped her to shreads on instagram. Don't feel bad at all. I once admired her work and hoped she would make a comeback but now I am glad she's fading away into oblivion now. There is no excuse to be transphobic at all, ever.

Personally, I think the mistake people often make is interpreting their own discomfort to mean something is wrong with what someone else is doing. I often suggest to people who express that discomfort to me that perhaps it means that what the person is observing isn't right for them ... but it doesn't mean anything is wrong with the other person's feelings or expression. Or maybe it just means ... you're uncomfortable, full stop.

I agree. The fact that I am uncomfortable with cutting people up does not mean that doctors are doing something wrong:smile:

Ugh, i'm not suprised that Snejyawna Onopstagram is being messy. I hate when people try to backtrack on their blatant ignorance and act like it's just a misunderstood opinion. Just admit you don't like a transgender model on the cover! I'm not even surprised she thinks kids read Vogue. She'll probably shower her future child's room with pictures of her modelling career.

She seems like a very unhappy woman. She was everything at one point; a career woman, muse etc etc. And now she's just living luxury, with nothing to do daily. Staring at the fashion world from the outside, knowing she used to be important in it. It's made her bitter. Natasha was right, she's jealous.

She knows she'll never even come close to Vogue Paris again, so to see a transgender model on the cover must cut her deep. Exposes the inner ignorance.

Karlie is in hot water again. This time for her geisha-inspired Vogue spread.

I do find it incredibly odd that if you're going to do a geisha-inspired photoshoot in an issue based on diversity you wouldn't use a Japanese model ie Tao as a form of respect to such a deep part of Japanese culture.

It's not really Karlie's fault though but she's had to issue an apology. Seems like that VSFS incident all over again.

I am all for diversity, but I don't see why a non-janpanese model dressing as a geisha is inheritely wrong.

Surely the anger should be directed at whoever casts the models?

I feel so sorry for Snejana, she's just relevant for the readers of this forum.
I think Karlie's ed is fantastic, she looks stunning and isn't her fault, Vogue should have picked an asian model.

People blame Karlie because she´s the face of that ed but surely the media could place the blame where it belongs, with the photographer/stylist/EiC, couldn´t they?
why should she release an apology?

I am not sure knowing who to should take the blame (for anything) is a requirement for working in the media.

But to be fair, they were only reporting what had happened (that people got mad at Karlie), they weren't analysing or adding their own comments in that article.

Pointing out that Kalie herself is not the issue would have made the article a better piece of journalism, but that requires some insight and deliberation. It is much easier to add some pictures and screencap some responses in social media.

^not in this article but I´ve seen others where they treat Karlie as if she was the one responsible.

I think everyone involved involved in the shoot is to blame. We're acting as if Karlie is a brand new model and is afraid of losing a client for speaking her mind. She could have spoken up if she was uncomfortable with it at the beginning. She waited until she was called out for it.

I would have rather she just owned it and was like I love the images they look beautiful instead of the fake apology...

^but even if she would have spoken up, do you think they would have told her "you´re right, we´re casting an asian model instead. thanks for the heads up"? I don´t think so... she could have chosen to not be involved but it´s not like Vogue would have chosen an asian...

Blaming individual models is still not very effective. If people genuinely cared (or knew better) they would blame the individuals in charge.

Back when that happened she also apologised, this time around I think she should already know better and not have participated in the editorial.

I know the stylist, the photographer and casting director are more to fault, but once Karlie was given the briefing or was being set you, she could surely see its not right. I do think its her fault as well, she shouldn't have taken part of the editorial. She should have spoken up about it, even if the team would just go cast another white model.

I don't think anyone should have appologized neither for the pic above, nor for the Geisha editorial. Geez! It's just a fashion editorial! People are being way too sensetive and taking things way too seriously on those matters.
