Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Here's a Japanese article about the reactions from Japanese people to the news. Some of the comments mentioned in the article are "I don't see what's wrong with the images." "I simply find those images beautiful." "Stealing culture, huh? As Japanese, I don't feel any discomfort looking at the pictures." "The ones who are criticizing those images are the ones who are discriminating."

And I feel pretty much the same. I only see cultural appreciation, not cultural appropriation(God, I hate this term). As long as our culture is not portrayed in a derogatory way, which quite clearly isn't in this case, I'm totally fine with it, as probably are 99% of other Japanese people. It also annoys me that most people complaining are not even Japanese. There was a similar incident a little while back, and an overwhelming majority of the reactions toward the news here was anger at the so-called "protesters".

Most Japanese, and Asians in general, don't complain about eds like that because of their fascination with Western culture. To them it's not offensive. Just look at anime - big eyes, small noses, fair skin, colored hair/eyes - these are distinct physical traits that are subversively what they consider as ideal beauty. In fact, if you put an Asian model in any traditional Asian cultural clothing, it'd be boring to them, to us, to me, cause I'm Asian. Every time a foreign designer tries to do an Asian inspired collection, for example, you will always see the Mandarin collar, silk fabric, hair in a bun of some sort, or different variations of the cheongsam dress. People in Hong Kong, for example, don't walk around wearing a cheongsam dress. It's only for ceremonial processions and special occasions. It's like an American wearing a wedding dress in daily life. It doesn't make sense to us to see an Asian model wearing a ceremonial piece - cause what's the big deal about that? But a white model wearing our traditional stuff...that catches the imagination. I'm not agreeing with it, but I'm explaining it.

Apparently, Ondria was arrested last year for simple assault. And Max was arrested for a DUI and marijuana possession.

is this appropriate to post?

Oh my god I am dying at Ondria's mugshot  this girl is the gift that keeps on giving lol

This is what happens when you run your mouth saying racist crap without any form of reflection. She should be lucky she's employed by an industry who'll turn a blind eye to these sort of stints (does modelling agencies do criminal checks?). Anyway, it sounds like it's a petty crime. In the UK these type of offences are 'spent' after a short post-conviction period, but it will still pop up if someone does a thorough criminal search. I'm not sure, but I think the guy's one will stay on indefinitely.

I think it is uncommon to check someones criminal record unless they will work with children or in the justice system.

...or money, or type of managerial job, etc. It's totally up to the discretion of employers, especially if they can justify it. Think of it, you're some hotshot exec, but need a PA. This girl will have access to your most private information (in most cases) so you'll want to get someone you can trust, surely? I imagine the nature of an offense is taken into consideration, not the fact that you have an actual offense.

In the US, it's routine for employment. So if you get caught with a fake ID when you're a kid, for example, you get to explain it to employers for the rest of your life. (For the record, so far I have nothing to explain ;))

If you're bound to get arrested amidst constant traveling and reckless behavior, at least make sure there's a tiny mythical spin to it and it takes place somewhere that contributes to consummate your bad girl reputation.. Sunset Blvd, Manhattan, a party in Milan, who knows.. there's something quite gloomy/Dickensian about a criminal record from North Carolina following you for the rest of your life.

Wow, really? We have very strict rules regarding access police records.

I´m sure that Ondria treats this as a badge of honor, she´s a Gangsta after all :rolleye::rolleye:
even her mug shot... I want to slap that "bada$$" expression off her face.
She´s such a redneck, isn´t she?

Really :flower: It's only extremely small companies that don't do it. And if you're caught in a lie, don't disclose a conviction, even for a misdemeanor, your new job is up in smoke. (I always make sure the background check is complete before I quit my old job, just because I've seen this happen to so many people.) This is also true if you can't prove you have the degrees you say you have. I've personally known people who've been let go for these reasons. Also someone who decided to 'combine' two different jobs on her resume to (in her mind) make her employment history look better. I told her not to do it, she didn't listen, she got fired from the job she'd just been hired for. So, kids, no matter what you see public figures doing, lying is just a bad idea :innocent:

Geishas don't look silly, they're graceful. I think the problem with lederhosen is they look like something for a 4yo to wear. It's just a good thing I'm not a beer drinker, or I'd end up laughing and pointing

You're right about Geishas, very graceful, soft spoken :flower:

Not sure if this belongs here or in the insiders thread (not really sure who the guy is tbh), but I just think it's funny how Ondria interjected

It seems this Trizzel89 is some model scout, maybe in Australia ?

Isn't the shitmodelmanagement instagram run by multiple models ? I feel like someone like Greta Varlese is behind it, she always seems super vocal about what's happening bts, complains on snapchat etc. I love her

Today Glamour Brasil instagram posted a picture of Bella Hadid (the one below), and brazilian model Thairine Garcia commented:

"Beleza feita em cirurgia plástica kkk" = beauty made with plastic surgery ahah
