Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Why trust the healthcare system on an ICU bed when you couldn't to get two Pfizer/Moderna/etc. needles for free?
A 'there are no atheists in foxholes' type of thing? I would love to know how these brilliant minds distinguish between the safe kinds of modern medicine that they have utilized their whole lives, and the awful freedom-depleting kinds like the covid vaccines...

Wasn't Imaan at NYFW and therefore supposed to be vaccinated?

As well as MET Gala, she's got to be fully vaccinated. And her comment does seem more like a friendly embrace for Doutzen being back on social media... I don't know.

Wasn't it so much simpler when there was no damn social media and everyone's brain farts weren't so easily accessible? Ugh.

This is also makes me think that Kroes income has taken a significant fall in the past 16 months even if she is a current l'oreal ambassador. It's bitterness.

After all, surely she would want to work? Unless she's burned bridges in other ways prior to the pandemic?

she actually fell for the 'vaccines cause autism' conspiracy theories in 2013, plus being so 'woke' lately on instagram I am not surpesied

I think you're right. Doutzen hasn't been active on social media since March. So I think her 'friends' comments from the industry are mostly to be seen in that context. I'd personally not show any sort of support in any way to the nonsense Doutzen is posting in their cases but it doesn't mean they 100% agree with Doutzen's views and to immediately put an anti-vaxx label on their heads is a bit much.

After all, surely she would want to work? Unless she's burned bridges in other ways prior to the pandemic?

This is what I honestly don't understand. I wonder to what extent her agency tried to stop her from posting any of this? It'll be very difficult for her to work again given that her reputation and image have been wrecked by this. I can not imagine even the likes of l'Oreal to renew her contract when it's up for renewal.

Candice got vaccinated in Florida though. She said she was anti-vaxx at first but then realized it was her duty to help protect those who "can't take the shot"... Maybe just showing up for a friend?

That's how I have read a lot of the comments from her friends.

For me, personally, I am vaccinated and encourage others to do so, for the benefit and safety of others. I feel that is bigger than one single person, and it is a "sacrifice" that must be made for the betterment of society.

I have friends that have not taken the vaccine and do not plan on it. Even with all the restrictions they face, they haven't budged. I'm not so sure what they will do when they can no longer work or travel without needing proof of vaccination, but that is for them to deal with at this point.

My takeaway from the people commenting that they miss her, and love her is that they are proud of her for having a stance and voicing her opinion. However, I do think it can be difficult in the immediacy of it all to understand the impact one persons opinion can have on the masses and for that, I find what she is saying to be dangerous. At the same time, freedom of speech does allow her to have and voice her opinion, and that is why I believe people are calling her 'brave', because they know her opinion is not a popular one (if she wants to not cause controversy and keep working) and it will put her on the sidelines yet, she doesn't care about all of that.

I find all of this so tricky to navigate mentally, to be completely honest.

Seems like she's fine with botox and filler injections, as well as the required immunizations she no doubt had to get when she did her animal rights work in Africa, but anyway...

Posts like this are just kind of a bummer. There's little to no chance of changing her mind when it comes to this topic which...just is what it is, I guess, but what does she actually hope to accomplish by sharing this? She's fighting for "freedom of speech" and against injustice by...declaring that she won't get the vaccine? Her hands are shaking while she types this, y'all, but she just had to get this information out to the world. Oh and don't forget, this is all about "peace and love" and "hope and love"!!!

Doutzen is such an incredible model...so it's just so disappointing to see her tinfoil beliefs! Especially since her activism for saving the elephants was really admirable.

One model I've really admired during this pandemic is Karen Elson. She's promoted science and health and the importance of getting the vaccine.

Some of these very spiritual people are just plain dumb. This is why people laugh at their long posts about loving our planet and being one with nature. Because it's an empty message. I care about our planet and the people who live on it more than they do, I can tell you that.
Of course, when it comes to making money, they go and get the vaccine so they can keep working. Hypocrites.
Same as when they talk about boosting people's immune systems, but they won't actually accept laws that allow us to do just that because it means rich idiots like them pay more taxes. They really piss me off.

Surprised, but not really, about Blanca liking that post. I'm happy to say that Spain is not a huge anti-vaxx country. I think it's just our medical system that teaches us to see vaccines as something normal because all kids get them for free. But she's so intense, I had to unfollow her.
That and her criticizing the Covid measures we had in Spain while she travelled from two cities that were in the worst time of the pandemic just to work and make money. Makes a lot of sense, honey.

I have a wild theory that when people just throw themselves into this half-baked spiritualism in which you cherry pick certain ideas or practices according to taste (instead of discipline), it usually comes from a lifestyle of excess and the natural psychological need to process this excess, but since they don't have the intellectual/academic tools to rationalize and assimilate these experiences that in many occasions are stressful, they believe it's about elements that spell out, almost Kindergarten-style and like cheap marketing, i-n-n-e-r p-e-a-c-e (diets, crystals, rituals removed from traditions, meditation carried out in exclusive resorts, herbal and homemade remedies for all medical conditions). It's like a phenomenon of a type of illiteracy that in essence, doesn't operate differently than illiteracy in underdeveloped countries, but that can be easily disguised and go unnoticed if disposable income is involved.

Until the last year, I don't think anyone would've ever thought people in Doutzen's condition (successful in her career, above average lifestyle and undereducated for the country she is from) posed any problem for the running of a developed nation, but.. here we are, seeing them push for a debate on policies the actual lives of less advantaged citizens depend on and of course, jobs and the overall economy.

Anyway, it sounds like she fell down that rabbit hole many years ago (judging from the 2013 post in the last page!), I don't think she even bothered to look up the author of what she was sharing (something essential when you're going to share controversial information!).. cause if she had, she would've known that's someone with a fake identity and no credentials to be found online. The upside is that she really is just a model. The downside is that it only takes clumsily dancing on tiktok to 'influence' people these days..

I think models just be liking crap for the sake of just liking it. There is just no way they're all anti-vax.

One can only assume at this point that the hypocrisy is just out of stupidity because if vaccines cause autism, she should be quite autistic by now. May even be powerful enough to take over the world.

On the fence comments like that are almost always double speak for endorsement. There is no "enlightened centrist" positions on some issues.

I just can’t with all these models liking and commenting on the post. We can all come up with excuses for them as to why, but at the end of the day it’s common sense to not publicly engage with post that has anti-vaccine discourse in the caption (while we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic) solely because it’s attached to a pretty selfie of your friend. Because even if they’re not all anti vaxx, they’re clearly more than ok with others being that way cause not a single one of them even attempted to call her out for how selfish and harmful her message is.
