Model Casting S/S 14

I think we've had this talk before, but what are the "holy five?" Prada, Gucci, Versace. Jil Sander? What else? Fendi?

Milan does not have a "holy five" at most it has a "holy 3" (Prada, Gucci, Versace)... Milan is so full of blue-chip shows and brands, we have Dolce, Fendi, Cavalli, etc.

I don't count Dolce as that blue-chip considering the casting is always so random, has so many girls and is never cohesive.

Best part of casting so far for me is Maja Salamon and Linn Arvidsson popping up at all the good shows! Hope this continues in Paris!

^Again, another indication the brunette wave slowed down? Add the Estonian newbies and Irene H. to that batch..

I don't think the brunette wave has slowed down. Spring shows historically swing to blondes.

Where's Cora Emmanuel? She was doing pretty good in NY and I feel like I've seen her in 1 or 2 shoes in Milan. :(

It's really disappointing considering her really nice selective run last season with only six blue chip shows, and now only DSquared, Ports and Phillip Plein. Hopefully Paris can treat her right.

I have a feeling Milan castings only have so much room for a girl of color.. and Malaika and Leona Binx are the fresh new girls and Cora's bookings suffer as a result :-/

Paris should be more diverse.. so Cora should hopefully do better there

Anyone know why sam rollinson skipped Milan and why marte mei hasn't walked at all?

I did some snooping around and Marte's back in school and so is Sam. :(
I mean, I'm sad yet wish both of them success regarding their studies.

Sam was held back in London due to work. Maybe some other promotional stuff for FNO or was shooting something for British Vogue.

Anyway, she'll be in Paris for sure.

But those shows (and Derek Lam which she also walked) are all cast by the same casting director, and it's not good if just one person is supporting you.

Oh, I hadn't realized that. Yeah, then it's too bad.

Whoa @ Maria Borges opening Armani. Finally a woman of color opens the show!

Joan opening Pucci was my favorite moment so far, but all-in-all, I have to say I was disappointed in the Milan castings. I'm happy about the increase in diversity, but sad about the lack of established models walking big shows. Where were all the top girls at Ferragamo, Prada, Dsquared2, Versace, BV & Ferretti? :( Milan isn't supposed to be a cake walk for newbies. I hope it doesn't turn into newbie central like the rest of the big cities.

Don't you think the 'renewal' of models goes faster and faster each season? There are much more new faces than some years ago, and their time walking the shows is much shorter...

Yes, it's getting worse :(

Normally I look forward to Milan because most of the casts are full of big girls but I was really dissapointed to be honest.
