Not that I am a fan, but I still don't understand Marte Mei. Isn't she 20 or 21? Why skip an entire season? Girls don't usually get a second chance to walk a lot like she has been doing.

Why is it getting worse?
Surely casting directors can't think a sea of newbies is good? Great clothes go hand in hand with good models to make a good show. In addition hardly any newbies know how to walk to even present the clothes well. I am looking at you Marc Jacobs.

I know! I was very shocked, especially considering how white Armani's castings are. I believe it's the first show Maria has even opened and it's a big one!

Joan opening Pucci was my favorite moment so far, but all-in-all, I have to say I was disappointed in the Milan castings. I'm happy about the increase in diversity, but sad about the lack of established models walking big shows. Where were all the top girls at Ferragamo, Prada, Dsquared2, Versace, BV & Ferretti? Milan isn't supposed to be a cake walk for newbies. I hope it doesn't turn into newbie central like the rest of the big cities.

I agree. I think the "exclusive" casting system is the main reason why established models now lose out to newbies. And with that, agencies are more concerned with offering casting directors new faces.

Caroline Brasch also skipped Milan. Where's Jac? and no Sigrid or Aymeline...

I don't really know, I feel like there are faaaaar too many exclusives! Just looking at the Exclusive thread and seeing all these Prada, Jil Sander, Versace and Burberry exclusives is giving me a headache!! Maybe it's to do with casting directors/designers wanting to find the next supermodel (or topmodel I guess) and by picking 20 girls, at least 1 or 2 will do well. I really can't bring any enthusiasm about these new girls, since most will disappear before their 3rd season. Or maybe it's a cost issue? For example Dolce and Gabbana's cast has really become stale the past few seasons, barely any top models, I miss the days of Natasha Poly and Isabeli etc But I'm not sure if that's a cost issue or just a casting decision.

I need more Joan, Karmen, Daria etc in Paris!

with the obvious one black girl in the cast, which was disappointing I enjoyed a majority of the Versace cast. I mean its crazy to see Kasia is the one Versace girl that has managed to last season after season since out of the old Versace girls. I could definitely see that collection on the Spring 2008 cast
