Models Who Were One-Hit Wonders

Sojourner Morrell, may I say her name now? I thought she didn't show up this season, and it seems she did a full pack.

Yeah Sojourner's career kind of died down, but she did some shows at least, Zac Posen, Paul Smith, House of Holland, Roksanda Illincic, etc. But it is true her runway career isn't really going anywhere big right now.

Hannah Noble - Prada S/S 2011 exclusive but things never really escalated after that.

Jemma Baines. She has always been one of those random Chanel girls that doesn't walk any other major shows.

And it's probably too early to mention her, but Tamara Weijenberg was photographed with Ji Hye in Paris so I'm guessing she was probably going to be an exclusive but was dropped from Miu Miu last season.

A lot of the Louis Vuitton F/W 12 cast have become one hit wonders: Magda Languige, Franzi Mueller, Ros Georgiou, Hedvig Palm, Erjona Ala & Marina Heiden.

There is still hope for Marte Mei van Haaster, Elena Bartels & Mackenzie Drazan. Julia Nobis is the only who truly made it after that, & while Marie Piovesan got last season's Dior campaign, it seems like she is already fading.

Coco Rocha- I know it may have seemed like she has was on top for a while, but it was only like 3 seasons. I wonder why her career declined?

Oh, and I also predict that Lindsey Wixson will be on this thread in a year.

I can't believe I said this last year.

I wouldn't call Hedvig a one-hit wonder though. She's not one of those models who do a hundred random shows for like 2 seasons and then fall from obscurity. Underrated, yes, then again, it seems like being underrated apparently also means fading...

Oh yeah, I'd like to add Anna Martynova who went from Dior to unknown shows last season.

Marc Jacobs has not exactly had a great track record in making stars out of the girls in either his or LV's campaigns. Other designers seem to have no interest in following his lead when it comes to his choice of models, unlike with Miuccia or Alexander Wang. Ruby Jean Wilson has received no traction or momentum from the LV/MJ campaigns.

I think its because Miuccia and Alexander are loyal to their models and dont just pick the next possible hot thing. I think both of those designers develop relationships with their favorites and use them multiple times which is something I dont think Marc does

Anna Martynova never had support other than Raf's so I wouldn't call her a hit in the first place. She skipped Paris this season but i'm sure she would have walked Dior otherwise.

Honestly, Miuccia hasn't been known for creating stars in the last couple of years either. It wasn't until Ashley Brokaw took over from Russel Marsh as casting director.
It's since then they became more loyal to their models and now it seems they are even trying to create new stars (Vanessa, Irene, Amanda).

But prior to that she did Miu Miu. So there was a brief traction. It's pretty evident that she was one of those unique new discoveries of the season, she just flopped really fast.

Well she began her career at Jil Sander with, again, Raf. She also never had any significant printwork other than Dior and Dior Magazine.
So, i'll agree with you that she is terribly underrated for such an awesome model, but she was never really a hit to begin with.

Can I add Daniela Braga to the list of Givenchy flops? Riccardo can't seem to create a star nowadays.

She's walked in a few big shows (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Valentino), but she hasn't had a breakout season or anything print/campaign-wise yet that would qualify as a hit. I hope Chanel runway filler isn't her peak.

Well, IMO Jemma is doing fine, she was Nina Ricci semi-exclusive, did Valentino, Kenzo, Oscar de la Renta, Moschino etc this season, I definitely wouldn't call her a one-hit wonder. I think she'll get more recognition in the future.

Mte, I think that Paris is just really her market, I would hope to see her in at least one campaign this season.

Erjona Ala, really? I think she's doing good.

Erjona is actually doing very well I would have to say. She missed New York this season due to the weather/blizzard issues. I think she should have just skipped Milan entirely rather than only doing Scognamiglio (it was obvious she was late to Milan for castings, but only booked that show because Francesco is very fond of her). And she showed up at Nina Ricci and Givenchy in Paris, which is pretty good, but I think she ended up not going to as many castings as usual because her agency wanted to "save face" and not just let her walk any show.

She is too new (and young!) to be called a one hit wonder.
