Models Who Were One-Hit Wonders

Daisy Fragrance? She's barely recognizable on the ad!, just a filler... Frida and the lighting outshine her all the way, but yeah... you can count that if you want.

Sophie was in the Daisy ad?

But she did have 5 pretty good catwalk seasons, it was just campaigns that she lacked in for the most part...

See? ... yes she was, in the very background, you can barely see her face, first time I saw it, I even thought it was Dorothea... which would have made more sense; either way, I still maintain that she doesn't fit the concept of a one-hit-wonder.

Sophie's career is kinda interesting...she definitely should' ve been more recognized, then she was or she is now. she's not a one-hit wonder at all in my opinion, she did some great stuff, but at the same time, there's something really underwhelming in how her career is going.

Does a runway exclusive count as a "hit"?

What about Kasia Wrobel, Merethe Hopland, Caitlin Lomax, and Lynn Amelie Rage? I feel like Kolfinna Kristofersdottir and Julia Saner should be on this list even though they chose to end their own careers.

did Lynn choose school over her career though?

This is just my opinion on the constant debate between what is technically considered a "one-hit wonder"- to me, only having one good CAMPAIGN season is what classifies you as one. Most girls do have more than one good decent runway season, but I wouldn't consider walking shows to be a hit. For example, I think Erjona Ala fits the definition of a one-hit wonder perfectly. Sure she still walks some nice shows, but her Louis Vuitton campaign is the only thing I'd consider to be a hit in her career. Being the 14th girl out at Givenchy doesn't make you relevant. Same with Hailey Clauson. Her first season was huge (Gucci, Dsquared2), but nothing else after that should be classified as hit-worthy from her, even if she walked a bunch of shows in her second season. Magda Languige fits the defintion too. LV, Marc Jacobs & Etro in her first season, then nothing big after that. She's basically a show filler now. Being a show filler doesn't exclude a girl from this thread. That's just my two cents on this repetitive debate you guys keep having about the topic of this thread.

ETA- A model getting C-list work after one big hit is like a musician who had one hit but still performs & does shows around the world. That's the best example I can think of. I'll stop now.

I was seeing this thread more as a great runway start, like a new model who appears and suddenly everyone's talking about her, because two days ago nobody knew who she was and she has glorious presence in fashion week (with all the coverage that implies)... and then that translate or not into print work, but who's hot presence it is no longer than 2 at maximum 3 seasons.

For me the perfect definition of a One-Hit Wonder would be Lisanne de Jong or Anastasia Kuznetsova, who had brilliant first year, in the case of Anastacia she even walked Victoria Secret.... but then they fade away... Let's keep into into consideration they never got big campaigns, but where girls pretty well known their first year.

Would Andrej Pejic be considered as one-hit-wonder? He blew up that year like no one's business (closing Haute Couture as the bride) and then cover on Out. And one season later, editorial here and there, and gone.

Thai supermodel Rojjana "Yui" Phetkanha

She's now in an insane asylum and homeless in Thailand, she was the first and only Asian girl to get a Chanel campaign

Former supermodel Yui on streets

Former Thai supermodel Rojjana "Yui" Phetkanha has been admitted for psychiatric treatment after being found wandering on Phetkasem Road in a disoriented state.
Pol Lt Col Jumphol Kanchanasathien, an inspector with Phasi Charoen police station, said officers were alerted to a woman annoying people in front of a coffee shop at a gasoline station in Phetkasem Soi 52 on Thursday night. They questioned her before releasing her, according to a report in Daily News.

Yui at the height of her fame in 1998, as the new face of Allure perfume by Chanel.

On Friday morning, police received another report about the same woman in front of Phetkasem 42, dragging along a large bag containing old clothes and some food.
Officers later confirmed the woman's identity as the Isan girl who won the Supermodel of Thailand 1994 competition when she was 18 years old.
Yui went on to work as a professional model in Milan, Paris and New York and became a cover girl for Vogue Asia and a presenter of Allure perfume by Chanel.
She worked in the fashion business for eight years before cocaine and alcohol problems cut short her career. She returned to Thailand and got small jobs but continued to battle alcohol addiction. She received treatment but still suffered from delusions.
At one point Yui attempted to make a fresh start locally, gracing the cover of Touch magazine, whose editors found her story of struggle and redemption inspirational.
Before the police found her on the street, Ms Rojjana had been staying with her father and stepmother in the Northeast but they had an argument so she had left to stay with her brother in Bangkok.
Ms Rojjana, now 37, has been admitted to Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry in Klong San district of Bangkok.

Good one, honestly i'm divided in this one.

I read that he was pretty profitable for a sustained 2 years, probably he didn't got to get big ads or editorials, but god he made a lot of money, probably way more than a few models who were really breaking.
I don't know if money it's an issue here, but certainly tells you how demanded a person has been, even though it is only by 3 powerful persons in the industry.

Andrej Pejic is kind of a unique case. You can say he's a one-hit wonder but it certainly wasn't expected. Everyone latched onto him as a novelty case because of the whole androgyny thing just as the business latched onto Lea T a few seasons before Andrej. Andrej looked good as a women model but honestly, aside from being a male modeling as a women, was there anything unique about him? There certainly were women who were just as good looking and as good as models, so once you get past the "shock" value, what reason is there left to using him instead of a woman? And none of the major tastemakers in fashion --Steven Meisel, Anna Wintour, Miuccia Prada, etc -- bought into Andrej in a big way. If you have only second and third tier tastemakers interested in you, it's not enough to guarantee longevity in this business.

^I consider Andrej's biggest achievement starring in Bowie's music video. It's quite a big deal actually. Who cares about campaigns or mag covers after 20 or 30 years? But I'm sure people are still watching Bowie's music videos after decades. So he kind of wrote his name into a history already and he's definitely not worth being on this thread as he's much bigger than these girls mentioned before. He just chose a different path away from a typical high fashion route.

he's definitely not a one-hit wonder, he's doing way more bigger than just a model. so it's not the same case with most of the models in the forums here.

I know Nastasia Ohl wasn't really on the top, but she was once a Calvin Klein exclusive (which is huge for newcomers and even experienced models). She walked a few major shows for a few seasons then her career has been going backward. She's now on this season's Project Runway to complete a cash prize and a fashion spread in Marie Claire.

I'm honestly still torn up over Katryn Kruger.

whenever I see this thread, katryn kruger immediately pops into my head. she was the hot new girl at one point and then she kind of just faded away. same with daga ziober. but then again, they were sooo young when they blew up. I think maybe 15 or 16
