Prada F/W 08.09 Milan

Maybe this is the first time I can watch a Prada show so calmly.
Some elements shown in the Menswear are much better here! And the use of lace is interesting, especially when seen in details.
Still there are provocations as Prada always does. The lace dress showing the models' ***, another kind of nude/transparency? The shoes are abstract but still very funny. And I love the bags!

Anyway, I kind of like this collection. I'm sure it will grow in my heart after few months later. We will see those outfits again and again in magazines, no?

My thought exactly. At first when I became interested in fashion, I was more into the practical side of it and liked the long dresses and pretty shirts that I could easily wear out. But now fashion has become something so much more precious and intriguing than that. Fashion can really redefine "beauty" and that is what gets me excited. There are so many designer collections that I don't even look at because they are SO predictable and easily digestible. But Prada is always creating and each collection is a statement on its own, without relation to what "in" at the moment or what she did last season. If it wasn't for designers like Prada, I wouldn't care about fashion so much.

this is why i love fashion
prada is just...irreplacable and pivotal to the entire fashion world. every single time miuccia shows us something, she provokes a huge reaction...even if you hate it, it is NO DOUBT the most influential collection of them all...
im not a fan of lace...but when you see a prada collection, you are looking at an art exhibition, it blurs the lines of fashion and art...and that is what i LOVE. it is emotional, layered, never been done....
i adore prada, as a designer, as a visionary, an incredible mind and as art.

best posts in this thread thus far. it's true. no matter if you love it or hate it, the point is that you've reacted to it, and that is what art is all about, and prada has managed to turn their designs into just that, art.

i personally adore all of it. the shoes are to die for, the lace is sexy in a very subtle manner, and everything is wearable, maybe not all together, (i personally wouldn't look good with lace on lace on i think,) but it's wearable and as much as everyone is saying that it looks very grandmotherly, i can't say that i agree. the lace, especially the black lace over the nude is very sexy, but classic, and it's subtle which makes it even better. it's not obvious and edgy sensuality that is shown in the pieces, but it's a very classic and sophisticated kind of sexiness.

then again, that's just my personal opinion! :innocent:

i like the collection but it really could have benefitted with a bit of color...

the orange and nude outfit is my favorite lace outfit by far... i love the minimal looks too

ugh lets try this again....I liked the fact that (as diorcouture said) its gone back to the aesthetic in previuos season's (even the set looked that way) with the whole grandma chic look. Over all the shoes in post 84 are great and I like the use of gold and some of the lace. It was a very blah collection though but after the last few thats just fine with me.

This collection is so so clever, and i'm afraid many of you who hate it are just seeing the clothes and not the genius it really is. I mean, lace over work shirts over tuxedo vests, the juxtaposition of feminine and masculine - a true master of her craft. Watch the burberry bloke steal all of this in two seasons time.

I recant: I love the lace now. It's so intricate and beautiful. And it's a bit saucy too.

I see a bit of Lanvin a few season back in look #116.

Love those boots but not so much the bags. Of course, it's not as strong as her previous collections but it's still fantastic nonetheless.

This was an okay collection, alot of the pieces are reminiscent of Maison Martin Margiela FW 08

the accessories and the styling were impeccable. i'm not digging miuccia's "chosen one" (the girl who opened the show). a very small disappointment from last season, but still very creative.

I agree about the "chosen one", looks like a man to me

sexy neo widow... she's so bored that she's doing dress out of her table-mat....
that's all i have to say....

When i first saw this i was shocked and disappointed. I thought to myself never ever would i wear any of these pieces. Then i realized its not about whether i would wear it, its a piece of art, and when i saw all the pictures of the intense amount of detail in the accessories and the lace in the clothing i really started appreciating it. I love the collection and i cant wait to see stores explode in lace designs!

Most of the shoes are nice and the sunglasses are quite interesting (although, rather like a mixture of early-to-mid nineties colours, combined with early '00s shapes; so not too relevant, IMO), but, overall, I'm not a fan of this collection.

I find the clothing frumpy and unflattering and feel that the lace only looks really good in the old gold colour.

I loved the freedom and creativity of S/S '08, but after the money that was, obviously, spent on that, I had a feeling that this season would be very safe and conservative and therefore, a great disappointment in comparison...
