Prada Mens F/W 13.14 Milan

This is Muiccia on auto-pilot to me.

She can attempt all she wants to convince us this is some high-concept collection, but it's all so ragtag and common to me, stylistically. But I'm sure the masses will love it because it's so easy to wear, and pleasantly colorful.

The coats and leather jackets are obviously the selling points here, and they look typically rich and nicely grungy-- but as many have pointed out, she's done it before, and recently too. It's all pretty much standard fare for her. And the parade of pubescent boys dressed in their Dad's chesterfiled mixed with pop-art leathers do look like One Direction and the those types, which is a huge turn-off for me. I much prefer Prada A/W 2012/13 with adult men.

It's Muiccia, it's Prada, and I think she's great, usually. But, this time, it'a also so forgettable.

Woah, what happened, I was expecting something attrocious and utterly tasteless ... Improvement, here it is .

I decided my opinion rather hastily, but admittedly it's growing on me. I'm not a fan of the blasé-esque-ness of the ragged shirts and what have you, but the jackets and shoes are FABULOUS !! And I rather like the cut of the trousers.

As much as I love Miuccia, I was very underwhelmed by this collection. It's not that these clothes aren't beautifully made (they are!), but it looks decent. Too decent. I found the setting more interesting than the clothes themselves.

I have the same problem with this collection like with the last one: there was no climax. You could stop watching the stream and return 2 minutes later without missing anything. One can say that this is a good sign regarding coherence. But to my mind it became boring after the 10th outfit. The fun was missing.

Another point is the styling. All these guys looked the same. Not bad. But not remarkable either. I don't know whether it would have been better to use older models; guys you can really call men to give some spirit to the whole collection.

At least, I liked the colours. But there was nothing, I was wowed by.

Looking back at this collection, i feel like this is maybe the most influencial mens collection of the decade.
Everything is there....
Cropped trousers, clean silhouettes, chunky shoes, oversized coats, fun styling tricks, simple fabrics.
It felt very fresh and normal in 2013 and it looks very now in 2018.

The same collection today would be a total commercial hit! Too bad Prada looked back in the 90's when in fact everything needed was near.

I felt it was fall 2012 that got into the eyes of most influential streetwear brands back then, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, at least. K-drama stylists followed the particular styling instantly since that collection went out.
And it took a year to be refined into the form you see in this collection. Then stays on for some years more.

No, I don’t think so. This collection had nothing to do with streetwear. It’s far too sophisticated to have been derived from that. Believe me, it has far more thoughtful design put into it.

Where did you read wrong? I was saying Prada fall 2012 menswear inspired a lot of streetwear brands. And it took a year for this styling to reach the form it is here in the collection. I'd say it's a communication amongst the brands. msgm, Burberry, a lots of them were doing this thing around that year or two. And I do think Olivier Rizzo was watching how these people were playing.

I would add, this is also the last time I can think of when they launched some real, killer statement shoes: those monster soles were trailblazing for years of other not so commendable copies...

^and there is still a high demand for this collection especially the shoes. I seek some pieces because this collection is still very strong and desirable years after.
