I do see a personal style on her... she wears trends but she wears them well. Except maybe one look with the tophat that I didn't think she pulled off, she has a great eye for what looks nice on her and there's something to be said about that. She always looks efortless and comfortable no matter what she is wearing, I think that's why people like her style so much. Maybe in terms of the actual clothing items she chooses she may not be very daring or interesting, but I don't think that's a reason to complete discredit her.

If I want to see someone pulling off an outfit out of clothes I would have never thought about putting together.. I agree, I don't think I would come here for such ideas. But if I want to see cute, comfortable looking, casual outfits, then I love her as an inspiration.

^Honestly, no one is really original these days. All these young starlets take trends right out of the runaway and incorporate them into their personal style. Some of them incorporates these trends very early... thus are credited for them...others wait awhile. I can only think of maybe 3-4 young women right now that are truly original and most of the time these girls do not even pull it off correctly.

Rachel uses trends that are in vogue but she has this ability to fit them into her own personal style just right. Most of the time it is her use of accessories... she looks the vast majority of time effortless and not like she is trying to hard. Plus, she always look good and put together which are fashion icon like attributes IMO.

I agree.. I really like how shes confident with everything she wears and looks effortlessly chic in the clothes she wears, even though u've seen them somewhere else. She adds alittle of her personality in her clothes and i love that.

Its impossible to be truly original. but u can really see rach incorporates those trends into her style. i mean if she doesnt at least pay attention to trends like skinny jeans we'd all be like eww she's still wearing boot cut? at least we see some consistency in rachel's style... like we would totally look at her outfits and say that's totally rachel! even kate moss, who imo is total fashion icon, would follow trends. we need to give credit to them for bring those trends from catwalk to real life. the point is that they do this really early, before EVERYONE starts...

I agree partly with everything that's been said. It's almost impossible not to let trends influence your personal style (if you're interested in fashion). I think the key, and in this case what makes Rachel's style likable, is to pick the trends/items that are 'in' that suit your body-type and personal style.
I agree with the ones that said that Rachel always looks effortlessly cute, and that's one of the reasons why i personally love her style. It doesn't mean that i'm going to like every outfit she puts on, but overall i find her style really inspiring and similar to mine; at the end of the day that's why we feel attracted to someone else's style imo.

She may not be a style icon, but i don't think she's trying to be one. You can tell what she likes to wear and why she's wearing it.

I'm not even going to use the term "style icon", because it's too overused. But I think that what makes a person stylish does not necessarily have to be originality or fashion forward-ness. I like Rachel Bilson because she looks great even though her figure and face are difficult to work with. She's petite, long-waisted, and has a small face with child-like features. Definitely not who designers have in mind when they make clothes. Yet she pulls off trends (maxi dresses, baggy trousers, rolled-up jeans, smoky eyes) that could easily overwhelm her, and rarely looks like a little girl playing dress up. That's what I find most inspiring about her.
