^ I think her dad has money. So, she's one of those "trust fund" kids. But I think she also gets a lot of her designer stuff for free. It's free publicity because she's papped frequently.

Her family is wealthy. Her father is known for his work in the video game industry, which is a multi-billion dollar industry. I think he adapts movies to video games and he's pretty successful at it. Her grandfather was a director and I'm pretty sure she inherited a vintage Chanel collection from her grandmother.

And as a celebrity, she is gifted/loaned a lot of things. I remember Vanessa Hudgens going to Diesel to spend a $5000 gift certificate she'd received in a swag bag from a Diesel event. Since Rachel is one of those celebrities known for style, she probably gets even more free stuff.

The OC money is also not bad. The Gossip Girl cast members with no experience get $50 000 per episode so I would expect Rachel to have had a similar contract with the OC. Each contract is different, but some will include syndication deals and DVD sales.

I highly doubt she made as much as the GG kids for the OC, which started airing in 2003. If it was on now, I'm sure she would have made as much, but imo not back than. She has made a few movies, her line with Donna Karan, her advice column, etc. She also gets a ton of free stuff, like going to fashion shows are paid for. So my guess is, she's not hurting for cash, going by all that lunching and shopping she does.

I think she has the paps on retainer. She is photographed way too much, doing mundane things and not being a particularly good actress, not to have these people on her speed dial.
