I don't get the fuss over Marion- she looks washed out in that dress.

The fuss about Marion is due to the fact that she is a girl's girl who is beloved and about whom people can't bear to say negative things. Exactly like Kate Winslet who always get far too much praise for her bland style. I agree with you, for one.

I completely disagree with the predictable 'worst ever' comments. Every years, for every events (Oscar, GG, etc.), it's always the worst ever, blah, blah, blah.
Imo this carpet is one of the best of recent years. Still a rather sad spectacle, but a step up from last year without any doubt.


Gisele looks absolutely fabulous and ooze sex-appeal from every pores but her outfit is totally inappropriate for the event. This is club gear, and she is attending a gala. The fabric of the dress is very interesting (love the action at the helm in particular) but the spaghetti straps, alongside the clunky shoes, cheapen what could have been a great outfit. She's still a goddess though, and her husband is dishy (and look p****-whipped as usual).

Iman is not always a hit at this kind of event (she likes the mermaid dresses but they are not always of the best taste, see former Met gala). This time however, she got the right shape, the right structure, the right fabric and the right colour. A faultless exercise in style, class and sex-appeal. I wish she had brought David with her though.

Blake looks like she is sleep-walking the ho stroll. If you come dressed as the town's hussy, at least own it and stand up straight. Jessica Simpson did it better.

God bless Madonna and her unhinged insanity and desperation. I had assumed Victoria would be bring the most laughs as usual but the trannish crone outclassed her in sheer comic genius.

Ashley's dress should have been stunning but ended up a disaster because she didn't choose the right size. The girl is stunningly gorgeous though.

Even I must admit that Chanel looks amazing. Great case of choosing a dress that is right for your body even if your body sucks. The fabric is sublime.

Kate's turban looks great at certain angles, her face is busted at every angles though.

Bee looks cheap! Can't believe I'm writing this. The dress she chose was breathtaking on the runway but she doesn't have the body nor the attitude to wear it and the modifications were not an improvement.

I am heartbroken over Helena's Forever 21 discount bin atrocity.

I can't wait to read Lainey destroying Jessica Biel tomorrow.

No wonder Cindy's hubby is hitting on waitresses. She looks like a pre-op. You know you should have stayed home when you are outshined by Donatella.

I am sure as usual the models and the socialites will do it better than the celebs.

Disagree. Marion usually hits it right (except for this time, which is decent at worst). The SAG Nina Ricci, Oscar Gaultier and Dior couture, BAFTAs Chanel couture were all hits.

Kate Winslet is just boring every time and all the time.

Summary: Old models DO NOT know how to dress. You'd think that models would pick up a few fashion tips after working with so many great designers, but no.

HUH? In my opinion, Lauren, Iman, Claudia were some of the best dressed of the entire night. I think we should keep in mind too that almost everyone here is being dressed by a designer and its taken as sort of a gift and an honor. And this isn't the red carpet, it's the MET Costume Institute Gala and its almost always been a bit over the top, no?
