Disagree. Marion usually hits it right (except for this time, which is decent at worst). The SAG Nina Ricci, Oscar Gaultier and Dior couture, BAFTAs Chanel couture were all hits.
I like Marion's choices most of the time.
The point I was making is that she would have been praised regardless of what she wore, as evidenced here.
If a less popular actress, such as Angelina or Gwyneth, had worn that dress, the thread would be full of cap sized, bolded 'BORINNNNGGGGG!!!!!'.
I don't like how people are going on about how this event lacked a lot of A-Listers... This is a fashion event thus the focus should be be on people who actually work in the industry, not which celebrities were/were not there.
Excatly.
I certainly did not miss the A-listers. They always dress too safe, too promy and have no taste. If you want to look at what a Met gala full of Hollywood stars looks like just browse last year's thread. It was ten times worst that this year.
The actresses have the Oscars. I would be happy if they stopped showing up to the Met (apart from girls with style such as Diane, Christina, Tilda, Camilla or Lou).
Beside, the models are always better dressed than the actress. This year even more than the others. I mean, look at Lily, Chanel, Iman, even Orlando Bloom's gf, the group picture with Kirsten, etc. Would you rather Katie Holmes had come in another plastic prom dress?
I stand by my word that this was the best Met carpet in years.
And I don't know what this Karl/Azzedine link that keeps being mentioned is. Was it posted on some reputable site that Karl didn't go in support of someone he can't stand? Did I miss when hell froze over?
Seriously.
Since when Karl has any loyalty for anyone beside himself?
Karl's ego-centrism is best illustrated by his twitter account: he has 16,000+ followers but he is following no-one.
He doesn't respect Alaia. He once said something like: 'If you want to look at Alaia's latest work, just go see a retrospective of his old work'.
