Seems like royal blue dominated the evening.
So many gorgeous outfits this year, though I think a majority of the models, who have all the freedom to pull anything off, played it a bit too safe for me.. too many mini Balmain-esque dresses, booties/strappy sandals and bed hair.. Anne, Natasha, Daria, Lara, Maryna, Anja, Stam, all wrapped in the official model uniform looked like they belonged in catwalks only and had zero experience on working a red carpet, except as the guest of a guest.
My favorite of the night was Miranda Kerr, she looked every bit the muse despite being hardly a catwalk favorite, to wear such a tricky dress with so much simplicity and elegance.. now there's a true model, for me.
Another favorite was Kristen McMenamy in Givenchy couture
, totally channeling the Tisci woman with the gothic makeup and hair..
Stella Tennant in vintage Helmut Lang was pretty cool, too. also Angela in Sander, Trentini and Shalom looked outstanding in their own unique way.. I like confident women who are not afraid of fabrics.
Lauren Hutton, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst, and Doutzen all looked very classic.. but still so good.
I was disappointed with Natalia Vodianova's choice.. she has excellent taste but looked almost rushed last night.. like something she put together before the limo left for the event.
Madonna.. I got second-hand embarrasement when I saw her in motion. can we say midlife crisis now?. she's totally channeling that weird uncle that must've been devastatingly cool in his 20s but that is now 50 and is convinced he's still got the moves.
Wondering what happened to Anna Selezneva.. Carine.. Ghesquiere.. Gainsbourg?. the french elite. did they also sided with Alaia and decided not to attend?. bah.
**thanks for the id,
borja. I love it when celebrities pick dresses from other seasons.
