The H&M Thread #3

I bought a jacket from H&M in Toronto, 2 years ago, which I wear religiously, and it's in great shape. There are some pieces from H&M that do not make the grade (ie the dark wash/"raw" denim), but, for the most part, I find that you get what you pay for in terms of quality. Zara, on the other hand...

I have bought rather expensive pieces from Acne, Tiger of Sweden and so on...and the quality is MUCH worse than H&M. I've never had anything H&M fall apart after wearing it one time or after the first wash. That has actually put me off buying more expensive brands.

If you don't like poor quality clothes then don't buy flimsy cotton. H&M makes great cheap silk tops. Their denim is pretty awesome too (well...so I hear, their jeans are too short on me anyway). My BF loves their wool v-neck sweaters, they hold up forever.

but isnt that sort of "heritage-ism"?

because you've been wearing it since you were a kid you're hard wired (brain washed for some) to keep going there. Regardless of the change in quality and anything else about the brand you still like it because you're always going to be sold in the idea of loyalty.

no, it's more like i have worn the clothes for 20 years, so i KNOW that they are not bad quality.

Ohmyy, I agree with you too. Most of the clothes I buy are from H&M and the quality is just fine. I haven't noticed any decline in quality either. I also buy most of the clothes for my children there too, and they're exellent. Their underwear, socks, jeans and t-shirts last forever and also keep the shape despite being treated badly and being washed and washed. The only thing I haven't been very happy with was their outerwear for children. The coats I've bought for myself have been quite ok.

I can vouch for their jeans. Good quality, good price. I usually get them on sales too - so they are very cheap in comparison to other "jeans brands" or designer jeans -> which imo, are usually incredibly overpriced.

I have also liked silk and cashmere stuff from H&M in the past. For sure, H&M do have loads of crappy stuff - I find that e.g. Divided often have cheap quality stuff - but Trend, Modern Classic and even the normal Woman line have decent stuff.

to each their own but i do have to agree about their jeans. theyre great. dont get their pants if you want to avoid having the embarrassing public tearing of them. it happened to one of my friends at work once. awkward....

I agree, the silk they are using is really good, Zara's is nothing compared with it.

The silk at Zara is a joke indeed. You just have to do as much and sneeze and it rips.

H&M jeans are the only ones I own. They fit, they last, they're cheap. What more is there to ask for?

don't they own cheap monday? im pretty sure and that probably has a lot to do with it.

"On March 6, 2008 it was announced that retailer H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) would acquire the company Fabric Scandinavien AB, maker of Cheap Monday jeans and operator of the Weekday store. H&M bought 60 percent of Fabric Scandinavien for 564 million Swedish kronor (US$92 million at the time) from the founders of the company: Adam Friberg, Lars Karlsson, Örjan Andersson and Linda Friberg. H&M has "the possibility/obligation to acquire the remaining shares in the company within three to five years."

The white waistcoat! But I´m afraid it could be too large, so I´m looking forward to see it in the stores and be able to check it out.

I believe she's a good choice for this collection, she looks very natural in all of the shoots, as if the bohemian look is her second skin. And it's possible that it is :P

I don't like it. I loved Gisele the most in the Dolce & Gabbana ads from the late 90's.

Today I thought I bought a white blazer...when I came home and saw it in daylight, it wasn't white, it was off-white

I think it is off-white, but anyway...this is what it looked like in the dressing room

I wonder if I'd like a super bright white blazer if I actually found one...so I don't know if I should keep it? I sort of planned to wear it with other white pieces, but my other white pieces are a bit brighter than this

it seems to be cream or light yellow from what i can see in your picture...
