UK Vogue March 2011 : Rosie Huntington-Whiteley by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

I Think it's more of a re-direction, than a re-design, their use of models in the issue is a diverse range, aswell as photographers used, especially Mert and Marcus shooting the cover, their first for UK Vogue.
the image used for the cover is fantastic, but i feel it's ruined by all the text, i can't help but imagine it for Vogue Paris and how significantly different it would look.
and the matter of the price rise i think is to do with the VAT change in the UK.

Seeing the HQ, really looks amazing! Thanks honeycombchild

Yes, i stand corrected.
tbh i don't see a problem with the price rise, in any case, 10p is nothing, but if people wish to complain about it, everytime a magazine is risen in price...
i think we all neglect the fact that it still costs money, no matter the thickness, how much it costs to produce a magazine.

Thanks for the preview of Ocean Colour Scene, Tarsha. It looks like it's going to be beautiful.. the serenity of the colors and landscapes are amazing, and Jourdan is such an incredible model, she just irradiates so much warmth and wisdom, that story is Jourdan actually, I'm even puzzled that they saw the need of bringing another model on board.. maybe they didn't know Jourdan would be more than enough and it must've been rude to cut Karmen out or send her back to NY .. anyway, excellent story, can't wait to see the rest.

And by the way, I didn't know the cover was inspired by Roxy Music, it looks nothing like it.. this actually looks more NYE-inspired.. :innocent:

There's a really interesting little bit in this issue, in the Notices section, which tells you that here in London, at Vogue's offices they are opening a "kiosk" where the international versions of Conde Nast publications (I presume all) will be on sale. From the image in the magazine it certainly looks like all the editions of Vogue are going to be stocked there and for sale.

This is looking like quite an amazing issue! The Ocean Colour Scene edit. is so fresh and relaxing. Karmen and Jourdan work well together.

If that's a fact, it's about time. Too bad for us across the pond, but great for those in and around the UK!

Gorgeous editorial + colors from Rosie! I love the simplicity of her poses contradicted with the over-the-top background. Love! Beautiful & stellar editorial from Sasha. This is simplicity and the wonders it can make! Lovely!

Love the editorial of Karmen & Jourdann! I like the styling as well as the story. Karlie`s, i need more photos.

The strange position is - printed magazines are exempt from VAT but digital ones aren't. A print-out of that digital magazine would become a zero-rated product, but the original computer document is standard-rated. I seem to remember it's because the online magazine is transmitted between computers/devices, therefore it's classified as a 'service', whereas sale of the printed magazine is classified as 'goods'.

You'd imagine with the explosion in ebook sales, that business pressure might force someone to look at those rules again.

In terms of 10p - it's certainly an attitude that's at odds with everything that a fashion magazine urges people to do with their lives, but I'm not capable of being blasé about one penny of my expenditure, no matter how much or how little I have in my pocket. I always have to weigh up whether an item is genuinely worth the money.

Nice to see Rosie on the cover, but I'm not sure if I like it. but Sasha's and Jourdan's eds look great.
