US Vogue February 2009 : Blake Lively by Mario Testino

^ yeah she doesnt look like the 'before' when she steps off set because she has a stylist now, which would be applied to anyone. She still doesn't look great though, very safe, contrived style. If she hadn't landed Gossip Girl she'd look like every other blonde generic teen with bordering on tacky style. I don't get the Leighton thing either because I think both girls real life style suck and neither are that great an actor

I wasn't referring to her style (which I pointed out was just as mundane, she should fire her stylist) but to her physical self which does not look much different off-set i.e. all her hair is there, make-up not that transforming etc. (Pardon moi for not making that clear.) She was well-cast for Serena because, issues with her nose aside, she's physically pretty bodacious and she doesn't have to return her boobs, hair or hips to the GG staff. (On-set Serena's style is comparatively casual.) Blair, on the other hand, is all about the hair, the clothes, the accessories, the attitude. Once Meester is on her own without the hair or the clothes, the accessories or the attitude...well...:ninja:.

this kind of glamour just doesn't work for blake, it's almost pitiful to see her trying to pull it off. the editorials look great, although to be honest i'm not surprised. i tend to like the content of american vogue.

I like the cover and contents. Blake looks good. Too bad she can't get surgery for her acting skills.

This looks tooooooooooo good, seriously I didn't expect much from February and I was mad that I bought the January issue as the articles were horrible , but this is must.Meisel's editorial is amazing, although it reminds me of Paris Je T'Aime from 2007 (maybe not as good). And the Dolce Vita picture looks great.I'll give Sims a break this time since Marie styled and many great models are in the ed. And of course excited to see Coco in a proper ed with her locks. The articles better be good.........oh well I love it anyway

i love agyness's ed. even though i dont like agyness or her boyfriend i think its cute

I like the Agyness' ed, she looks so stunning and the Cate's ed is so pretty. ^_^

Luxx is the La Dolce Vita editorial complete? Just one picture?

It's going to kill me that my local magazine dealer always needs one month to get some Vogue US into Munich. I can't wait. :woot:

Catherine does look good, but i'm psyched that Lynn Yaeger wrote the piece about Isaac.

Ok I know that were all very into the editorials but I think that this month it's important to look at the editor's letter. I think it helps to give a very clear idea of the M.O. behind this issue. The freshness of content isn't just some happy accident, it seems as though the goal and theme of this issue focuses on renewal and I love that.

The best line from this is Wintour's final quote:

"By refreshing our ideas of what a dress or a suit might look like, they remind us that duty and delight can go hand in hand."

Somehow that really speaks to me - I almost wish she'd take it that one step further and go, "By refreshing our ideas of what Vogue should look like"

Apropos of nothing, I think we should have a "best magazine ARTICLE" thread. Now is a good time to look at writing, no?

Marcel, Dolce Vita is just the one picture :flower:

I can't ****ing imagine what it's like to be Aggy's boyfriend, I wonder if she makes that ridiculous "oops I did it again!" face every morning when she wakes up. I can't believe he's not embarrassed by her dressing

Given that people frequently complain there's too much discussion in these forums, how far would we get? It's always a good time to look at writing, and the viewpoints expressed in magazines - but understandably, it seems scans top the list of what people use this part of tfs for.

The other day, I was reading through Paris Vogues from under three different editors, and noted the different style of articles, the different sort of language each version used according to the image it was trying to strike. But there's probably no real place for that sort of talk (and no real interest either, I'll wager).

The thread will be me and two other people - myself and I. That's fine though. I'm sure someone else might wander in every now and then to discuss Lynn Yaeger. Or they might get lost, think there are scans inside and become very confused. Either way.
