Well that is my opinion, i think its uneccessary , and dont share the sentiment that this is somehow more photoshoped than some other V covers we have seen.(drew's was heavily photoshoped, as were many from last year.)

the ethereal beauty that is Cate wouldn't need photoshopping,

nor would she require publicity to make it seem like she can act.

I was going to say the same thing, it looks like they were inspired by January Jones. Hopefully she has a Vogue cover in her future...anyway this is a good cover for Blake, an improvement over that hideous W one.

Good for Vogue! I am not a fan of Blake, but I wasn't a fan of 90% of the "old guard" either (Renee, Keira, SJP). I always complain about Vogue using the same five actresses year after year so, whether I like the new faces or not, I'm just glad that Vogue isn't starting 2009 with stagnant faces.

Although, I have to ask, is Blake really so undeserving of a cover (as some people here seem to think)? I have questioned at least 60% of Vogue's cover choices in the past and, to me, Blake feels like an appropriate choice. Oh well.

Anyway, ignoring the "who" for a moment, I have to say this cover is stunning! The dress, the hair, the makeup, the background... it's all perfect. After all that atrocious hair (Keira, Gwyneth), and those boring backgrounds (Kate B., Reese), this is a treat!

Blake Lively is a TERRIBLE actress. I scroll past all the Serena scenes in Gossip Girl lest my eyes glaze over. I don't understand why she's getting ALL the press when Leighton Meester is much more deserving.

you never know, vogue us is made about mad men (har har) and with the show going the way it is she's getting heaps of publicity. and since anne was on january's cover, who knows who we'll get in the coming months. i'm hoping for some more deserving and talented actresses, like amy adams, january and even kate winslet, since hoping for models seems a little pointless.

blake does look good though, and i like the pose on the cover. much, much, much better than i thought it would be, all things considered.

oooo i love this! this statement is exactly what gossip girl would release.

I also question if Blake really deserves this cover. However US Vogue doing something good is so rare that I won't complain. She's a new face for Vogue US, therefore I'm happy. It's as though Vogue is taking baby steps towards excellence, and leaving mediocrity behind.
