US Vogue February 2009 : Blake Lively by Mario Testino

Nope, the cover is pretty bad. I don't understand this girl or the praise for this girl. She haven't done anything cover worthy. I mean she is just like from a tv series and some old movies. I don't think she deserves a cover. There is so much other talented and more beautiful actress out there for the cover.

People are under the assumption that US Vogue is choosing 'new faces' but really they are recycling women who have been test run at W Magazine (Vogue's sister publication) and who will bring them a profit, which is ultimately their sole focus.

Okay, but that doesn't change the fact that Anne and Blake are still new faces for Vogue specifically. I never claimed that Vogue was being daring and experimental, but that does not make the 2009 cover choices any less refreshing to a loyal Vogue reader.

Unrelated to my comment above, I am a bit thrown off by all of the Leighton worship. After suffering through her wooden performances on tv (and most recently that dreadful Haunting of Sorority Row movie, lol), I don't think she is any more (or less) deserving to be on Vogue than Blake.

I don't think either of them are Vogue material, but I was more outraged by some of Vogue's previous choices (Spice Girls, Melania Trump, Britney Spears, Lisa Marie Presley-twice). Considering Vogue's history, Blake just isn't that questionable to me. Blake fits into the Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon "talentless and dull" category at the very worst. Since most of Vogue's covers are graced by women who fall in that category, I just can't complain about Blake all that much.

i really like the cover, the styling is good, love the MJ, and the eds sound very promising.

The model cast is really exciting. Mixing old-school models with younger ones is an excellent idea, I just hope it works and that the editorials are superb! As for Blake Lively, I don't think she is a good actress at all, but she's young and pretty and she looks really good on the cover, so I think we may be up for a great issue.

Vogue likes to use balloons fairly often in their quirkier editorials, don't they?

Wow, besides the obvious flaw that is the cover/cover choice; that Meisel editorial is superb!

It's editorials like this that US Vogue need to include in their repertoire more often.

And Agyness Deyn looks tolerable in her editorial; she almost looks classically beautiful. For once she's not being the annoying hipster that photographers are so eager to make her into.

OMG! Amazing, amazing, amazing! That picture of Anna and Viktoriya with the ballons and the taxi is one of the best ones I've seen in US Vogue. Meisel should work for US Vogue every month...
