US Vogue January 2020 : The 'Vogue Values of 2020' by Annie Leibovitz

Cardi B being the face of Vogue Values. Says a lot. HAHA

But mad props to Anna, the woman has the nerve and balls to produce this cover (unlike her international counterparts)

The cover reminds me Amy Schumer's Vogue cover.

Why people hate Cardi B so much?
She is loud, tacky, vulgar...She is everything people have generally few tolerance for but it’s what actually made her famous....

I personally quite enjoy her and I have reports from people that she is actually quite funny, laid back and well mannered with people on set and everything...

I’ve seen so many people in the fashion industry, the Art world or the corporate world that are far more vulgar, loud than her...Some are quite obnoxious...But they have the card.

It’s a class issue. And that’s why people criticizes her generally...

I find her refreshing. And I least, I know that she played the game for this shoot.

But I must say that that tattoo of her is awful...

I like Cardi and jam to her music daily but for a "Vogue Values" theme it is incredibly laughable that she would be chosen. Her little scuff with Nicki Minaj at the icons Party should have been enough evidence. She's also had too many controversial situations/lashing out to even be considered for a title like that. Just Google it. Her inclusion was obviously done for the clout and to check off the "not white" box. She's one of the most famous current pop stars and y'all are forgetting that her fan base and digital reach is insane. Compared to Greta, Stella, and Ashley, she is a WAY bigger star and will help sell issues. Vogue US has always been about clout and reach and here it is again. A Michelle Obama cover would have been legendary and appropriate for this theme. They could have saved Cardi for another month on her own and had more fun with her cover.

It is certainly funny to see Cardi and values in the same sentence. If this was called the family issue (as it should since this is the very innovative theme of the covers), I think there would be less complains. Her cover remains the weakest.

Have you seen the "plus" text on Cardi's cover? I don't wanna be the one who says that but 100% she'll be the main cover, the other 3 if we are luck enoguh will be fold out and suscribers covers -that explains why Ashley has a video with her print cover-. Just saying.

All 3 are main covers.

Stella and Ashley's issues are already sold on eBay and also includes the PLUS

Fun fact: the issue Ashley was holding in the video was a mock up lol. The actual cover contains "Plus Cardi, Greta, Stella" while the one used in the video didn't have the latter

What makes her so low in your eyes? Is it the stripper background? The vulgar and openly sexual behavior? How is that still so ''controversial'' in 2020? Not every woman wants to be America's sweetheart.

...and that’s that on that. Preach.

As much as I love Cardi, the cover isn’t good... I feel like they could’ve done so much more with her. The end result is boring and that dress is also ugly. Wish she would’ve landed a solo cover for another month, this just feels like a wasted opportunity.

However, the three others are amazing. My favorite is absolutely Stella’s cover.

I don't know very well who is she, but the picture is damn bad. Leibovitz and the stylist should be suspended for a year. If you are a good editor, you can turn any woman into a lady. And they've made this with her...

Omg, I hope I can get Greta’s one

Why turn Cardi B into a lady? im not fan of the cover but i think it's not bad idea a subtle vulgarity on it....and the inside pictures show a little more on that.....
i do not think this is the issue for doing her a fully "makeover" ...

Because this is Vogue! Vulgarity and fashion is not always a good match.

Like it or not Cardi B is part of the conversation, let's remember that Vogue is a lifestyle magazine which focus on the latest news and events in social life and Fashion. All the women chosen are part of that emblem, just that Miss Cardi B is a loud Latina woman with a dark past. What worries me is the excessive Photoshop in all the pictures, I mean come on! You have the best retouchers in the planet and all the pictures look like crop and paste works of elementary students... That's a no! I thought they learned from the Ariana Grande mistake.

Thank you! Context is everything. Cardi B on the cover of US Harper's Bazaar, CR Fashion Book, ID or whatever lesser or irrelevant magazine with little to no cultural impact? Don't care. On the cover of a special edition of Vogue, being put forward as a role model? Laughable.

but guys remember, Anna’s Vogue has long been branded as irrelevant by forum members, publicists, and celebrities (notwithstanding the fact that some of them promote their American Vogue covers with the lines “dreams coming true”).

So maybe that’s why Cardi B is severely justified.

Oh and don’t forget to add how she defender her man despite the latter’s manifest problematic stance on Trans people. And also, lest we forget the now deleted problematic and ignorant Facebook post concerning Trans people.

Cardi’s relevance MAY be debatable, but her unworthiness to promote Vogue Values is a settled fact.

Vogue Values she is not.

I am in a way content that Cardi B got this cover, as Vogue is a society's mirror and everything this person is actually represents the values of today's mainstream Western world.

While I won't be bothering to find out how big the buzz and the outcry this gets on the internet, I really do wonder what will that upper class subscriber lady think of this cover once the issue reaches the mailbox of her suburban mansion?

I'm just curious, will every month be like this from now on? Is Vogue going to eventually turn into Elle and have those ''international deals'' when every edition will share the cover star? I'm confused. If this month's theme is motherhood, what's in store for February? I need to know more about those Values, cause so far they're quite questionable.

Maybe, now Anna is a Global content advisor... so?

So the "Vogue Values" theme is a general CN thing? I´ve seen other editions with the same tag :ermm:
