US Vogue March 2016 : Adele by Annie Leibovitz

I am really bothered with the bottom bar.

Dull....
I like the color on the cover but she doesn't look good and the editorial is another Annie 'dead soul' wretch fest.

Celebrities having picture approval is not totally unheard of.
I seem to remember a similar story I read about Marilyn Monroe and the last sitting she did with Bert Stern.
You may have seen slides of her with an orange marker thru them.
Apparently those are the ones Marilyn didn't like.

If people in the magazine industry are to be taken seriously about their work, maybe, they should put their foot down and refuse those demands.
I remember a quote from iconic photographer Francesco Scavullo: on Women;
“Something in my head gets turned on by seeing a woman’s looks really come together with the right makeup, the right hair style, the right clothes… it’s exciting to see a woman metamorphsed into something extraordinary… But what gives me the biggest kick of all is to see a woman… not just looking her best but knowing she looks her best…”

Celebrities should trust these professionals to do their job and make them look their best.
Maybe that's why we keep getting these bland results.
Celebrity culture should die already.

God cover. boring editorial

I like the cover, because i expected it to look like that. I don't raise my expectations with Adele covers.

I prefer her personality though, so i can't wait for the interview.

As said before, Vogue picked the setting, etc etc, Adele simply has say over how she is shot and then approves the images used. My guess if that she simply feels much more comfortable being photographed reclining and sitting and that's why we keep seeing her that way. I agree her Time cover was stunning and it's a shame this isn't as strong and striking as that, I would have loved that to be a Vogue cover, but if you look at it, she was sitting and enveloped the clothes there. I think that's how she agrees to do covers, on her terms. She doesn't strike me as the type of person who would enjoy being the centre of a huge shoot at all, so anything to make herself feel more comfortable with it all! It's a beautiful yet dull editorial but for me, Adele is incredibly beautiful and exactly the type of woman I want to be seeing on the cover of magazines and have people look up to and what not. She's fantastic.

The cover looks similar to the Vogue UK's with Edie Campbell. Her editorial looks flawless & Leibovitz this time made an amazing work.

The cover is fine but the editorial is so bland!

When will Annie Leibovitz go away?

Absolutely, Monroe was the first actress to be that involved in her shoots, and get approval, she even did photo shoots without the consent of the studio, many times. Completely in control of her image! Another Iconic woman who had 100% approval over her shoots was Princess Diana! She famously approved a UK Vogue cover, after it was declined by the Palace.

But i agree, its not always for the better, show up, let people do their job, celebrity culture is out of control, in many ways thanks to Wintour!

The cover is so basic! Editorial is better.

Her skin looks so waxy in the editorial. I can't get over it.

I like the cover but overall it looks like a lazy shoot. Three photos lying down, three photos sitting down. No energy.

I think she looks fantastic on the cover and the editorial is a dream.

Annie Leibovitz is such a laughably stale photographer at this point. Of course Vogue is laughably stale too (when they aren't grasping at relevancy through social media darlings) so maybe they're the perfect fit. They just shouldn't have dragged Adele into this boring mess.

I'd love to see a totally different side of Adele. She's got some physicality to her, doesn't she? Wouldn't it be wonderful to see her in active poses! Standing! Walking! On a stage! Anything other than lounging/reclining/lying down, etc.

With that being said, I actually think the cover is absolutely gorgeous. It's a wonderful hint of spring optimism. She looks very beautiful. And it's bright and colourful and will totally jump out on the newsstands.

She's been so careful and smart with this whole process so far. Like, she released "Hello" and the world lost its mind. Then the album came out and she did a very select bit of interviews and appearances and we're still waiting for the next single! She's been incredibly careful not to avoid overexposure. And I think it's absolutely the best strategy for her. The reality is that she'll dominate the Grammy Awards NEXT year (25 was released after the cutoff for the 2016 awards), so her team knows that she'll be still promoting this album to some degree for the next 12 months and they're really taking their time with it.

I'm quite sure nobody here has tried to make an argument to her merit in covering this issue. Lol. Beyond her near-universal popularity, just simply looking at the numbers - her album 25 has already sold more than 15 million copies worldwide, which by the way makes it the second highest selling album in the last decade ... only album to sell more? HER LAST ONE, 21. Lol. So ... basically, Adele IS perfect for the Power Issue.

I really like this cover. It looks fresh for spring. The edit is a bit safe but also not bad we've seen far worse from Annie and I love that Testino hasn't gotten his hands on Adele yet.

As usual I don't know half of the cast in their celeb features, lol. But I can almost let it slide because Ine Neefs and Alisa Ahmann gets to debut in this issue. Just wondering what Poppy Delevingne is doing amongst those girls.....

I see Hilary Clinton's feature was shot by Testino, and styled hy Tonn
