US Vogue September 2019 : Taylor Swift by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

So all that Gigi hype for a... Nigel Shafran? What? Zoe Ghertner? This sounds like a dream team from some publication like Allure, Teen Vogue... something cheap and millenial, I'm sorry to everyone involved but this is such a mess.
Remember when September was Meisel's supermodels? Remember when it was an experience worthy of a documentary? When it was 750 pages on average? Even with celebrities, September issues were spectacular. Look at Kirsten's 2006 or Sienna's 2007. Yesterday I posted Vogue Italia's September 1990 issue and I filled the thread with two pages of content. This won't even fill half a page. I'm disappointed beyond words and the thought of the last few good photographers and editors frightens me. What happens when all we have left are Nigels, Tylers and I can't even name a single new editor cause I don't bother memorising their names. I guess there's Paris still. Let's hope Alt has enough power to save us all from this misery.

I have lost my faith in this magazine for a few years now and I could say I am glad with my decision.

US Vogue is in dire need of salvation. Along with W. And I do think it should start with Anna leaving her role.

I hope Carlos will continue styling at least in some capacity. The magazine can't afford to lose him. If anyone must go it should be either Camilla or Jorden. And they can take Tyler with them.
I don't really mind the new guard of photographers at American Vogue. At least they're more consistent than Jansson, whose work is hit and miss for this magazine, and not consistently good like at VP. Maybe it's good that he stays there.

Carine always said her biggest regret was not cultivating enough new photographers at VP, especially with the platform she had. Maybe Anna is trying to move with the times in her way? But there are better and more directional photographers to back right now. American Vogue right is in need versatile photographers who can add something exclusive to the magazine. Someone who can do an exterior shoot as well as they do a studio one. So maybe less Theo Sion and more Daniel Clavero, for starters. With the right platform, I think he could be great! I'm keen to see how Zoe's work will evolve at this magazine.

So far, it's like looking through an issue of UK Bazaar.

Thanks for letting us see what's inside!

Thank you for posting editorials, TZ001
Wow Tyler Mitchell photographed white people

I want to say that overall this issue’s tone is consistent. All the editorials are neutral and soft, and I don’t think it’s terrible. The general problem for all Vogue editions now is the lack of storytelling, but ‘Easy Street’ truly makes me feel happy and reminds me the good old days.
