Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2010 Paris

I think Julien Macdonald secretly designed this . :shifty:

Nah even his "Star" line at Debenhams is better than this garbage.

I want to hurl. I just can't believe this was authorised to go ahead.

And if Hillary, Suzy and Cathy don't rip this to shreads I will *** a b*tch.

OH MY WHAT IS THIS.
...
this is just ugly. and not cause it doesnt apply to valentino aesthetics, it's just UGLY.
this is bad.
alessandra's hc collection was amazing, and im not even a great fan of hers. who are they trying to appeal with this crap? 'young customers'?
if i had the money to buy couture i'd probably get ANYTHING other than this crap.
oh my.

^^^ so true label basher haha. Cathy usually rises to the occasion im sure she will roast this lol

I don't think the average haute couture clients are in their late teens or early 20's.

Breaking News : Monsieur Valentino commited suicide after he saw the Valentino Couture collection held in Paris on jan. 27th.
He explained in a letter : "Couture is Dead. Valentino is Dead. Let my red blood make the Final Buzz of this Couture week, and not that weak freak show".

what a mess. there is really nothing i can say about this except that it's hideous. i'm just speechless:ninja:

I'm pretty disappointed to be honest. I thought their last couture collection was a nice break from tradition, and with spring they really seemed to hit their stride. This collection is definitely a stumble, though.

But quite frankly, I don't see how this is any more hideous than the stodgy, dated, D.O.A. socialite crap that was Valentino's stock in trade. They may be polar opposites, but they're both pretty unappealing from where I'm sitting. At least this is somewhat in tune with where fashion is right now which, regardless of how poorly it's been conceived, iss more than you can say of Mr. Valentino's couture.

They'd be smart to stick with the vision of Valentino that they sent out for spring. It was a good balance between the spirit of the house and the spirit of the times.

Just breathe.... just breathe. A month of self mortification should make me forget this ever existed.

I'd like to do psychological experiments on the creators of this disgusting mayhem.
But then I'd have to commit them for life.

How could they shamelessly say "We are creating dreams, couture is a dream"?!
Yes, couture is a dream, but this is a NIGHTMARE IN HELL!:ninja:

Everyone has said my thoughts exactly. I mourn what Valentino used to be....

I actually like a few things, but most outfits look like they ran out of time and simply got a few bolts of fabric and went to town wrapping the models in it. It's senseless...

I honestly thought I had clicked the wrong link when I first saw this..

Oh dear God, this is like Balmain and Roberto Cavalli had a one night stand in Ibiza. :yuk:

I understand trying to "update" the house, but I think the progression should be a little subtler, and when you're designing for an established name- especially one as established as Valentino- you should at least somewhat stick to the aesthetic. This just looks like the senior presentation of a fashion student that watches too much Project Runway and worships at the alter of Ghesquiere.

Bravo! You guys managed to destroy the tradition of the house in just one collection! The thing that bothers me the most is not that they're trying to push an edgy, fresh new look for the house, it's just that they aren't even trying, they are just copy/paste-ing.

Seriously?! Is this the best they thought that would work that edgy look? By copying almost every hip brand that exists right now?!

There's only one thing to say: BRING. BACK. ALESSANDRA!

:yuk:what the hell is the collection?
it is really awful. So shame on the two designers.
Valentino is dead.

yea... i thought i liked it
but as i saw the collection in its entirety i am fallout out of love with it... i enjoy the makeup the softer elements, but it's drawing too much from herve leger and rodarte... there are some real hits imo but overall it's just lacking

i do enjoy that stunning neon gown at the end ugh gorgeous but i'm quite let down by this

Hmm, Valentino is known for it's mature, sultry yet womanly yet a bit coy attitude. T

he look of this collection, I feel, is trying WAY to hard to be YOUNG....Balenciaga and Rodarte massacre. I don't think Valentino should ever approach gritty/edgy looks like what they've created in this collection.

I actually miss Alessandra's vision, womanly yet open minded for the future.

I don't even understand this collection at all....

Thanks for all the photos - I had a good laugh

It reminds me of old Versace couture minus the sense of humour.

okay now i know why designers are scared of the internet. you guys have collectively ripped Valentino a new one.

I don't understand.

They fired Alessandra because Valentino throught she wasn't being true to the house, and that older customers didn't like her updates.

WELL THEN WHY THE HELL HAVE THESE TWO BUFFOONS STILL GOT A JOB?!

This is the worst massacre of the Valentino I have ever seen. Alessandra updated in a beautiful understated way, it was never vulgar and her design talent always shone through.

This is shoddy, cheap, and a very ugly potpourri of copies from other collections.

you know it's a bad collection when even the most pragmatic among us cannot find even one thing to praise about this collection. we gave them the benefit of the doubt when we saw that ad campaign with the pink hair. we cringed when we saw the latest pre-fall collection. however, this has gone too far. this would represent an embarrassment for ANY house to put out under ANY circumstance, but what so many fail to realize is that houses like valentino -- and gaultier, et al -- actually have bigger budgets to actually put on high profile couture collections. more money than the lacroixs and thimisters of the world. this is an insult to them. why are they playing at a time as serious as this?!

what trollop would actually WEAR something from this collection let alone PURCHASE something based on this presentation?! further, it hurts my heart to think that valentino himself is still living and can witness this travesty taking place at the house that he built. this is the couture house that clothed jacqueline kennedy upon the death of her husband, the president. it is truly a sad day at the house of valentino to watch these two trample that weighty legacy.
