Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2010 Paris

I really am one of the only few here who like it aren't I?

I find it such an improvement on the usual Valentino shows, which generally do nothing but make me bored. It does remind me of Balenciaga amongst others, but I still like it. I love the boots especially.

It is indisputable that this collection is NOT Valentino, neither the designer himself or the brand. This collection is clearly the worse that has ever been called Valentino couture and is a huge embarrassment for the designer and the company. And you just think they had fired Alessandra Fachinneti....

DREADFUL.

^eek, that sounds a disease! But then again....:ninja:

I just cant wrap my head around the fact that this is supposed to be couture, let alone Valentino. Someone seriously needs to save haute couture, is dying slowly but surely...

How can you be inspired by Avatar and use Galuchat in the same collection? That's just plain disgusting. Guess they didn't get the point. Don't seem to be smart enough to grasp Avatar...

The difference between the Valentino archive pieces and their interpretations is that the original Valentinos are actually pretty. You can dig as deep as you want into your archives, won't help if you come up with this...

Overall, I'm pretty surprised this particular collection has had pretty good reviews, for what it's worth

A couple of wrapped, draped chiffon dresses (one done in brick red in memory of Valentino tradition) and a jacket with black patches jigsawed onto a base of near-invisible flesh-colored georgette were youthful in the way this label needs to be if it's going to attract new clients.

This arty ode to nature was a fresh departure by the design duo from their lacy black collection of last season and their respectful homage to the Valentino past of a year ago. And although the collection lacked the daytime clothes that once would have dressed the couturier’s loyal clients, there is a sense that something fresh is happening.
Yet the way they were shown hinted at other designers — Balenciaga, Givenchy or Rodarte. To be in the flow of fashion rather than among its leaders is not necessarily a bad thing.

conde nast nor the new york times has the leeway to turn away the ad pages the valentino fashion group commands between proenza schouler, hugo boss, m missoni, et al. i'm curious to see how many of these designs make into the "best of couture" pages of these publications....

I respect Valentino, and Balenciaga. I personally love Valentino's aesthetic, not so much Balenciaga's.
What I don't love, or respect, is Valentino crossing over to Balenciaga's look, and especially when it's done for haute couture, and even more so when it's executed very poorly -_-

Totally agree

VALENTINO IS NOT VALENTINO ANYMORE

It`s like a mixture of Alexander Mcqueen + Versace + ....

It´s the opposite , and that´s not fair  The should put another designer

It´s a shame

I wouldn't insult Alexander Mcqueen that way

It really looks like their S/S 10 collection buy they placed some colors to it. It really reminds me of Balenciaga '10 with a mixture of AVATAR. Ugh!

I love it that most males on thefashionspot only concern themselves with the show and the runway rather than the actual functionality of the garments.

the designers of this garbage are #1 on my sh!t list, they take priority even above christophe decarnin~~~~b

100%agree with you. Alessandra Facchinetti has recieved so many critics but personally i think that she fitted and understood she spirit of the house so much and so well.!!this collection isn't not that bad, some details are amazing and delicate, but again, i can't see "Valentino" in that, i see more "Valentino doing Balenciaga"..

If Facchinetti received so much critics, what would the new designers recieve.
She did far more of a better job.
Princess Haya of Jordan was always seen in Valentino couture but recently she seems to have preffered Armani Prive, cant blame her.
This collection looks very much balenciaga to balmain.
I just wished they kept within the style of Valentino.

well proenza schouler doesn't advertize.
but that's not point.

obviously the valentino group is an advertizer. but there's a huge difference to a good review of the show, or just an ok review.

^proenza schouler does not advertise yet. and those reviews were not GOOD reviews. they were nicely worded bad reviews.
