it was horrible.
not only managed they to scare away all old customers not only by their design but also by rudeness in order to attract the so called "new generation etc" but they are forgetting a few things.
-the people they now want mostly do not have the money for it at the prices they are charging
- there are other couture houses where either mothers who are willing to pay for daughters couture or young succesfull women (if they are reallly good they even manage to mesmerise the young independent, the daughters and even the mothers)can buy modern wonderfully executed pieces that actually have some meaning, inspiration, beauty and are in tune with the times and true to their vision
- nobody knows anymore what valentino stands for and with that you really ruin a brand. basically there are three ways.
staying true to yourself your brand your ideas and deliver what your paying customers want while still updating etc
or create a big media spectacle to boost other products like bags cosmetics or rtw
or create something really new that boost ideas fantasies goes a new positive direction makes people think and dream while along the ways creating a new brand DNA etc.
unfortunately with this collection they have failed on all accounts and even though never a fan of allessandra i believe over time she could have archieved at least one of the aformentioned things
The collection is not at all 'Valentino', but I actually find gorgeous lot of dresses and the shoes (kind of similar to the burberry prorsum SS '10 ones, right?). I've always hated Valentino with all my heart, so I'm glad with the change, haha.
The craftmanship is incredible. They've really improved since last season, in terms of Haute Couture techniques. Everything is taken from very old world Valentino, yet it has been brought into the 21st century with the colour and cut.
I love half of this collection, eg. the ethereal short dress in different shades of red and coral chiffon that really updates Valentinonand the feathered coat but loathe the other half, eg. the printed chiffon cape thing. I'll keep an open mind for now.
Do they want all of Valentino's clientele to dissappear .Facchinetti was 100000X better this is just horrible . Its DIY take on Balenciaga . 2/10 for this
and the blind folds for couture effect are quite stupid.
100%agree with you. Alessandra Facchinetti has recieved so many critics but personally i think that she fitted and understood she spirit of the house so much and so well.!!this collection isn't not that bad, some details are amazing and delicate, but again, i can't see "Valentino" in that, i see more "Valentino doing Balenciaga"..
i don't.... HATE it all. it's just VERY UN-Valentino. that grey jacket with the puffy sleeves and the neon yellow detailing looks fun. that feather jacket i love. those head pieces are pure
but it's SO NOT Valentino.
sad, since i really really REALLY enjoyed their S/S 10 collection. that was beautiful...
