ReutersMILAN (Reuters) - Donatella Versace, known for her sexy, glitzy designs for womenswear, kept up the pace on Friday in a winter 2007-08 show full of razzle, dazzle and silver.
Models walked out on a white glass catwalk to a thumping version of The Doors classic "Hello, I Love You" sporting chic gray or black wool suits.
Skirts were knee-length and jackets hugged down to the hip -- an urban style given a cheeky twist with Parisian berets over long, straight hair.
Silver sparkled throughout the collection. In the soles of shoes or in the clasps of fluffy white bags, or used to pick out the contrast between white fur and leather in a coat.
Cocktail dresses, short to mid-thigh and cut so low at the back they grazed above bottoms, used metallic bronze and gold in mosaic designs with an Egyptian flavor.
Versace went for bell-shaped dresses and coats that ended mid-thigh, using black and cream wool or gray paneled fur.
The designer also daubed color into the mix, with acid greens and copper sulphate blues for coats and dresses in a variety of cuts -- bell-shaped, hourglass, slim or straight.
In an extension of a theme seen on Wednesday at Gucci, models wore bicep-length black gloves with sleeveless dresses, while high-heeled boots were wide-legged to the knee.
For eveningwear, Versace ran Grecian pleats from breast to toe in cappuccino and cream, or swept silk chiffon to the ground in ruffles of charcoal and black.
Versace is the last of the big name designers to show collections, as fashion week concludes on Saturday.
