Vogue Paris March 2011 : Saskia De Brauw by Mert and Marcus

I actually like the styling in Daria's editorial, but the setting not so much.

I'm obviously reading too much into this, but I can't help but think that Carine made a deliberate choice to let Emmanuelle be the focus of her final cover(story) for VP to give a final ode to her successor.

For example... It's also I&V.

As for main editorial, I don't really like it.

well, just like studio eds which is being done in every issue and people dont have a problem with that. there still not a lot of eds like this compared to studio eds.

the whole point of this ed is about the styling not the concept bc the one same background is being used through out the ed.

i dotn find the styles on both eds are the same except for the vibrant colours.

Im sorry, Saskia cannot pull off that femme styling at all. It looks so off. Why did they bother to cast her for this story/cover when there are so many girls who could have gotten it just right. Im sure Saskia is a great person but this just doesnt work on any level for me.

The cover ed is easily the best ed VP has done in years imho, love it!

Thanks for all the scans GinAndTonic.

she was cast for this because Carine likes her, it's as simple as that.

A coeur perdu is great, Daphne and Saskia make it all!!

+ anna de rijk, carmen kaas, missy rayder... where are Lara and Natasha?? LOL that is a change and i Like it!!!!!!

Coeurs A Corps Perdu was likely inspired by Emmanuelle, a series of French softcore p*rn*gr*phy films; hence why it looks projected through a television screen. Though there is some bias from Carine's relations with Riccardo, Saskia was chosen because she looks like the title character (played by Sylvia Kristel).

It is true that this cover is polarizing with Vogue Paris fans, but she succeeds in giving an expression that conveys the mood of the editorial and its inspiration. It definitely could have been more dynamic/dominant in terms of the expression, but it's pleasing to see something so soft and subdued from Carine's camp.

So far all I can say is that I don't like any of the editorials. I don't know why but Carine always seems to make it to produce terrible work with an amazing cast. I, for one, am glad that she's left Vogue Paris.

That's so wrong to use a 16 years old then for this particular ed if it's inspired by softpornography.
however they still look great. both.

If Matt Smith starred as the female lead in a remake of Emmanuelle, it might look something like that editorial. Having been alive during the decade, I'm rather fond of the erotic aesthetic of the 70's - and seeing it reworked in modern ways - and for me, that's just not hitting the spot.

On the other hand, I'd probably buy the issue for Hanaa's shots alone.

ooh lala ,,, what an ed! Coeurs A Corps Perdu, very indochine inspired...

I find Coeur à Corps Perdu underwhelming. Even with the intriguing inspiration. Neither Saskia, Daphne or Carine's styling leave me impressed. However Pop Egérie with Daria compensates, without a doubt. I have always found Emmanuelle's styling approach to have a certain allure. The use of Blurmarine and Prada is brilliant.

Well i remember seeing Emmanuelle when i was a child in the 80s. It's not the type of movie that is going to corrupt anyone. It's all rather infantile.

I can't believe people like Daria's editorial so much when the styling is so bad. Everything is clashing. None of it reminds me of summer except for the bold colors. Other than that, the clothes are so ugly especially when put together like that. As far as the photography, it's nothing special, nothing we haven't seen before. Daria is still a great model in this, actually her poses are the best thing about the editorial.

agree with you completely

really excited to see KK's editorial

love the energy in Daria's -- but that "East to Eden" link to an extremely similar edit, also featuring Daria, from Vogue Paris in 2008 ... well, it's too obvious to ignore, i think.

Very disappointed with what I've seen so far. Don't like the cover and the review doesn't excite me at all. The only editorial I'm looking forward is Body Secrets. Since it's Carine's last issue, I was expecting to see all her favourites (Lara, Kate, Natasha).
