Vogue Paris May 2011 : Kate Moss by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Does anyone think that the shots in Anja's & Anna's editorial are kind of stretched?

I also thought that, although I'm hoping it's just the digital copies. Regardless, I love the concept and Anna looks outstanding.

The En Vogue feature looks bland, when contrasted with previous issues. Although I'll not complain, because I adore the accessory choices - same with Zoom. Malgosia's such a professional with expressions, each one brings that extra something, I love the styling. Looks like Alt's vision for Beauty features are in full-swing too.

This issue looks fantastic! Every editorial delivers and Hans Fuerer is turning out to be a delightful addition to the magazine. Seriously sensational issue.

What a shit issue. VP has become a sad shadow of what it was 6-10 years ago. All the stories look like a remake of Vogue España's Vogue Paris remakes, it's the reputation of being daring and defiant what's now keeping it afloat..

I agree. These days to find a good ed is like panning for specks of gold in a river bed. Whereas if you look back to the early 00s it was like finding nuggets left right and centre.

It's inevitable that a new agenda is evolving at the magazine, and what seems to be taking shape is an emphasis on stylish adult women who simply enjoy wearing clothes, portrayed with high production values. Some will like that, and some will now look elsewhere for thrills.

I've just received the issue.

Another booooooooring one (!!!). Nothing stands out, except maybe Sasha's little ed, which should've been longer.

The cover is too dark for May, and seriously, this is déjà vu et revu.

I definitely miss Carine's touch but now everyone is complaining it's too boring as opposed to before when it was becoming "trashy" or too shocking...I don't mind Emmanuelle as an editor I think she's doing a good job but it definitely needs a fresh perspective or at lease redefine the magazines identity rather than reverting back to a classic Parisian style...it's a bit safe, some of the editorials need a stronger concept especially Anja's! How many times have we seen a reinterpretation of that famous Helmut Newton YSL suit smoking picture!?

I'll reserve my final judgement when the next few issues come out...

Malgosia's and Sasha's eds are pretty good. This issue is a thousand times better than the April one!

need to see more... hands look really too big, almost unproportional and not real in comparison to Kate... but maybe it will look better on quality pic... anyway, she looks beautiful

I think the hands should've actually been bigger (read: the shot should've been more zoomed-in), so that there would've been less of the distracting arms, and more just groping/pulling hands. The result would've been more literal (and therein more straight up humorous) and Kate would've been more in the focus. As it is now, it's just too much limb and not enough hot pulling, and too ambiguous to be considered either serious or comedic.

It's Kate's expression that does nothing for me, though. Her eyes are just vacant in this shot, which rather punches out the air from the rest of the cover (and its concept).

Jansson's "Pleine lune" looks like it's been done before about 4,000 times. Kate's editorial is okay, but clashing colors do not a good pictorial make. I kinda like Anna in "Casino", but even for an accessories ed, with that styling it never really had material for more than two interesting shots. I wish Malgosia's ed hadn't been black-and-white; the fact that it is makes it feel a bit like a "filler" track on an album.

That first shot of Sasha is terrific, though. From what I've seen here I won't be getting this issue, but her shots I'm saving.

I don't yet know what to think of Alt's VP, but it has so far been less exciting than Carine's. But then Alt has only been in the lead a few months. I'd still like to give her VP a proper chance before I 'NBC' it.

Anne's editorial is superb! love everything from her modelling to the photography to the theme! :woot:B)

I don't particularly like Sasha's ed! Great model but bad styling and concept. I like Anja's ed the most, I think it's very glamorous and I love that.

The eds I like most in this issue are Malgosia's and Sasha's. I wish Sasha's was longer but I wished the same thing for the one in the April issue
None of the eds are particularly bad but generally they feel boring. They are too 'safe'. I miss something bold and even sophisticated that VP used to have.
I didn't buy the April issue yet and ain't buying this issue either. I'll see how June/July issue comes out. If the models are still the same and anything is hardly changed I won't buy all the issues.

Malgosia looks amazing. What a great model, I love her.
