Vogue Paris September 2009 : Lara Stone By Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

I quite like Lara's cover. What I don't like is that Raquel doesn't get the cover of VP. She's doing so many edds for VP and still no cover. The same thing is with Sasha. Lara is the easiest choice to make for me.

Personally i been getting over VP this year, not one issue impressed me, but i like the looks of this one.

I totally agree.

This is typical VP cast and that's exactly what I like about it, hopefully I won't be disappointed.

This is probably the most sinister I've ever seen Lara, and looking sinister is pretty much her specialty. But this cover has film noir feel to it, and she's definitely the femme fatale. She looks very innocent, but very dangerous too.

When I saw this thread, I was SO excited, nearly jumping out of my chair in anticipation. I have been waiting for this issue ever since I heard the rumour a month ago. And then, when I saw that shot of Lara, I just didn't know what to do. Am I being fooled? Is this a joke? Ha ha ha ha ha....? After absolutely loathing last month's cover, I was really hoping that the September cover of VP would blow my mind. But I actually hate this more than last month's! Don't get me wrong, I think she looks stunning. It's a totally different look for her, and she does pull it off, to a fault... But I don't understand why they had to go out of their way to so drastically change Lara's appearance to, in the end, look like any of a handful of models currently working who could have had the cover themselves. This could have been Edita, it could have been Regina F., it could have been Jac.... I find it completely ridiculous that they had to totally transform Lara just to put her on the cover. I know she's Carine's favorite, but does that mean that they should just dye her hair every month and plaster her on the cover just because she's Lara!?! This is totally unfair to all of the other working models out there with brunette hair. When I first heard the rumour, I was expecting something completely outrageous, completely shocking. Gothic, definitely. This is just underwhelming to me. A quickie L'Oreal hair dye and a school-marmish, dated updo. Yes, Lara is the most over-sexed model currently working....but that is her AESTHETIC (and why I ADORE her)!!!!!!!! She is sultry, she is womanly, she is a SEX POT! She is NOT a docile, demure quiet beauty! She is Brigitte Bardot, she is Marilyn, she is a Seventies p*rn star! She is NOT Lauren Bacall or Ingrid Bergman! I can understand the lady-like, Forties film noir look Carine was going for, but is it relevant? Is it NOW!?! This just looks like a beauty shot from some Hollywood starlet back in the day. Also, why do the editors at VP now insist upon doing beauty shots as covers? First Daria's unflattering close-up last month and now this snorefest! I may be ranting--because I am seriously disconcerted--but this is just so disappointing! Vogue Paris is my bible and I always expect so much! If the contents sounded in the least bit interesting, I wouldn't be nearly as torn up! But they are SO formulaic and predictable. Carine, I love you, but you upset me so much this month! My day is ruined! I know you have OODLES of unexpected surprise and wow and erotic glamour up those infinitely chic sleeves of yours! Please, oh please, promise to make October UBER spectacular... and sexy! Pretty please!!!!

i know the review is predictable but you always just know the editorials will be great (for me anyway :p)

Lara is unreconazable. She looks like Anne Marie Van Dijk. Beautiful cover!

The review sounds predictable, the whole issue sounds predictable. classic VP.

I hope Natasha Poly will get a cover soon, she used to be Carine's favorite. I'm glad she has an editorial inside.

I wish we could see new girls in VP sometimes or other models than the 'usual girls'.
It's like VP and the American Vogue use almost all the time the same models, more than the other vogue editions.
I don't care about the American Vogue but I wish it'd be different for VP. I know Carine has her favorites and it's great but she shouldn't use them THAT often, there are so many great models out there that would fit VP's aesthetic prefectly.
Come on Carine go out of your comfort zone from time to time !
I see what you mean but one thing i really appreciate about VP is their image they also sell and which works. they have their style, their approach to fashion and its presentation and also, their signature models. which is pretty essential now, when everyones complaining that models dont get the recognition from the general public, i really think that there should be some younger models that would inherit the supermodel-like status when the old guard is too old (which seems like its never gonna happen lol). i know that there are tons of other and maybe even better models but see, there are also so many other magazines that dont have such distinctive features like VP. its a matter of evolution, i'd dare to say here. when i compare VP with VI, VP has a continuating story with plot, cast and respected directors while VI is just a bunch of nice pictures without any chronology that may be appealing one by one but at the end of the day, not as a whole. excuse the attempt to a bombastic speech

Alright, I've taken a second to cool down and the cover is growing on me bit by bit. Lara is very gorgeous with brunette hair. But I think she would have been SO much better as a blonde femme fatale! Hello, Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity!?! The BEST film noir villainess of them all! And the styling isn't that awful. I am so glad that the OUTSTANDING Miu Miu Fall collection is getting major play in the magazines. It was definitely one of my favs! So bourgeois, Seventies erotic elegant! And such yummi furs!

Can't wait to see what the contents look like, hopefully not as mechanical as they sound!

And thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much Laetitia! I have been waiting SO long for this!

And people thought Anja or Natasha might be the "luscious model"

This is the Lara i adore.
So sensitive and not as a strong sexy vamp...
Nice.

Marry me Laetitia

Lara looks amazing on the cover. So classic and elegant.
She looks like a thousand of the world's most beautiful women rolled into one..
I see Isabeli Fontana, Catherine McNeil, Natalia V, Natalie Portman, and about 100 old Hollywood movie stars like Vivien Leigh and Judy Garland.

This is what I've waited all year for.
Can't wait for the editorials.

I thought her Numero cover was great, but this even tops that.
She's having a great couple of days for magazine covers.:D

Preview Editorials:

Gloria with Lara

BB with Natasha

Put On A Happy Face with Sasha

More Later

Sorry I can't scan all editorials. Sorry again for the bad quality of scan
