Chanel F/W 10.11 Paris

This is most inconsistent collection from Chanel i´ve ever seen. Some pieces look adorable - for example - angora sweaters and cardigans, some dresses or jackets, but there are some really disgusting clothes... fur hems are terrible and most hideous part of whole thing are these fur boots... it´s yet worse than clogs... especially with the water runway... it shows what happens to shoes in real life and wet and snowy streets

Yes, I didn't like the water runway, I hate shoes getting wet and fake fur wet looks (if possible) even worse.

Angora looks at its best here, what a good fabric quality. B)

the whole setting is really nice, and a lot of looks are actually good but those furry things all over are just painful to look !!

I want to like this, it's Chanel and Karl is God but... with the exception of a few pieces, I don't like anything.

This collection as a whole is horrid. It feels like when Karl's got his design head on then pieces like the tweed and angora work very well. Then he seems to lapse into ego-central to persuade everyone that ridiculous and unflattering fake fur...everywhere...is a great idea. Please.

this was a designers collection you can see Karl was stuck in his head with these ideas and no one was brave enough to tell him STOP! This isnt going to work

I actually like the idea of the melting iceberg as decor. The water and the colours are pretty, and very Chanel. The collection, however, is disappointing. There is not one outfit that I like, which is a first with Chanel/Karl :(

i think this collection is beautiful. it's everything i love about winter. it reminds me of the snow queen from narnia. i think it's spectacular. the one thing i could do without is the men in long faux fur coats with matching trousers. that's not ok even if it is chanel.

After viewing this collection all I kept thinking is... The Wookie/Chewbacca collection. I just... I don't know.

I was about to post these outfits in the 'scariest collection' thread. :ninja::cry:

I still can not believe the use of fake fur here, if he didn't want to use fur there wouldn't have been any problem but that looks like the fur of a cheap teddy bear. Nobody from his team told him that it was outrageous?! It's not even funny, no, definitely it isn't.

My beloved Karl, do you remember this? Omg, I adore this photo.

imo, this collection is about the creation of a concept or idea more than making wearable clothes, which you can also find -especially in those white outfits-...

This is like the Muppet trend (i.e., fake, brightly coloured fur) taken to a whole other level. And I don't like it.

Methinks most of the clothes in this collection are just, well, bad.

And like many here, normally I love Karl's designs and fantasies. But in this case fantasy trumped design. :(

This is why I love fashion; crazy Karl decides to comment on global warming by transporting a few tons of ice from up north, only to let it melt on a stage while giant teddybears parade in front of it. Don't bother calculating the emissions of transport and preserving.

There are some lovely knits in there somewhere though.

I find this thread hilarious.

The amount of comments on how people were really bothered by the fact the fur was getting wet??

The show was just amazingly ridiculous. The set was the most ridiculous part of it. But it's the reason I love it. It's such a spectacle.

I'd love to see a full video of the box actually being lifted, if only to hear the gasps from the audience.

I really applaud the use of faux fur, even if I don't care for the pieces he's made from them. There'll be some amazing editorials featuring these pieces come A/W, and no doubt once the actual pieces are toned down for the instore versions, they'll be a great improvement and will sell really well. There's many women who wouldn't buy faux fur, but I bet there's just as many women who would wear faux fur instead of real fur if Karl was telling them to and Chanel had deemed it the height of chic.

I just went through the pictures of the show again, and I have to say I still stick by what I said earlier - this line just isn't as good Karl's normally are. Make a statement about ethics, fine, but when it trumps the overall design and look of the line, then it starts to look ridiculous.
