Chloe Paddington Bags (February 2005 - March 2010)

So I am dying from being sick....go to the doctors office, get out of my car, have child in arms, hobo in the other and of course I decide to swing my hobo onto my other arm as I am walking through the doors (glass) and I totally cracked the glass in the main door to my doctors office ! The padlock must have flipped over as I swung it over my shoulder. I was soooooo embarrased. The sound was so loud!!

You guys, just a forewarning, never do what I just did. Of course I played stupid as to how it could have possibly happened, but still, I feel terrible.

Becareful walking through those glass doors w/paddys in hand!

mammab, how awful but at least we now know we have a secret weapon when carry our paddies!!!!!

Mammab, wow...I can so visualize this happening. BTW, I have been carrying my whiskey zippy. I absolutely love this bag! More and more of my "go to" items are being stored in the bottom section. When wearing the bag, it is actually easier to get in and out of the bottom compartment than the top. Did you decide to keep or return yours?

I can't remember what bags people are looking for, but Nordstrom's SCP received a recent shipment. They have the zippy paddy in chocolate and regular paddys in multiple colors...I recall whiskey, chocolate, anthracite (metallic), lizard... Most are in the handbag department, but a few are in the designer area on the second floor.

Hey SoCal: Since you have easy access to these bags, if you have a chance to take a look next time you're in Nordstrom, might you check to see if they have a Whiskey satchel with soft, squishy leather and an unscratched lock? I am thinking of returning my whiskey satchel to NM for a better one from Nordstrom (where I can save sales tax and possibly shipping). Only if you have a chance to stop and squish the Paddingtons! It seems every time I ask a s/a to check the bag over for damage I get the standard "We just got these in!" answer, in a snotty tone too. Just getting them in does not equal in good condition.

Sure. I'll take some tomorrow. I SWEAR its Noir. Anyone have their Noir tags? On a lighter note, I have a REAL anthracite coming to me Should be here next week.

Hmmm.....this gives me an idea -- design a bag with built in protection, like a james bond bag. Okay, forgive me, but I am really sick and am currently on massive doses of antibiotics, I think their affecting my thinking.

SoCal -- I'm glad you loving the zippy, it's such a great bag and I really love how the zipper adds such a elegant touch to the bag. I still have mine but have been using my hobo. I'm "forcing" myself to switch bags every few days so I don't get burnt out.

roey -- omg, that is too hilarious but I did wonder and checked my lock and I must have the lock of steel b/c there is not a single scratch/chip/peel on that puppy.

An acquaintance of mine once wrote that she used her Paddington to slug a guy (in the head) who was bothering her, and rendered him useless for three days. I'm not sure if it is true, but I felt that was a great justification for the price tag - handbag and self defense weapon all in one! I'm glad your lock is okay; your bag must have the heavier, filled lock. Some bags are made with hollow locks. Even though my tan bag lock is peeling on the loop, the lock itself is the same way - indesructable. It has banged against my file cabinet, fallen on the floor, went flying across the front car seat when I had to stop short and hit the dashboard... it has taken some abuse, and still not a mark on it.

Roey, I don't think I will get back to South Coast until next weekend, but if the bag is still there I will give it a "squish" as well as a visual inspection...

I am now thinking about a black bag...I love the arm and/or over the shoulder versatility of my zippy and absolutely love the shape for me (sick, sick, sick...I do not need such a bag until F06 when I am wearing more structured jackets again...and keep telling myself to wait, wait, wait until fall styles are revealed)...

If I have a sable paddington would buying a east/west paddy in cream be different enough? The padlock is on the side and the style seems to differ enough to not appear the same bag. I love the east/style and think it would be different as I don't want to own two of the same style. The sable has quite a pink tone to it and the east/west is a true cream. Thanks for thoughts!

Yes, it fits quite different. I would say try before you buy (or if you buy first, make sure you can return). I prefer the N/S hobo over the E/W hobo, but I think I may be in the minority here. The N/S hobo "fit" me much better. The N/S is tall, while the E/W is wide. If I recall correctly, the shoulder drop might be longer on the E/W. I liked how the N/S was "slim" and fit nicely along my side. (Note: I returned my cream colored N/S hobo in spite of how much I liked it. I wore it out one day and had terrible denim transfer onto the bottom of the bag. I would have loved to have it in a darker color, but could only locate E/W bags at the time.) I think mammab might have an E/W hobo, so she could better describe its fit.
