Sorry if this has been asked before...Have any of you used your paddys in heavy rain or snow? If so, any problems?

Thinking ahead before my next potential purchase...

Not that we get a lot of heavy rain or snow in CA, but I like to make sure the bag can also withstand my travels (my "other" hobby/obsession/addiction)... ;)

bijinthat's so strange labelling a noir anthracite.[/quote said:
I think that the SA's have so many different bags they see and deal with everyday that its no wonder that they mislabel the paddys as to the colors and get all confused. At Nordies the other day I noticed they err'd as well by labeling the whiskey hobo with the "nuit" color tag and I noticed on ebay too that someone is selling an authentic blanc hobo and they too got the wrong label as well. It reads "jaune" too.

And then there was my incident where I asked for the Blanc Paddy and ended up with the Blanc Shoulder Bag (hobo).

So from what I have learned thus far with SA's -- check, and double check and again, triple check. But still, there can be mistakes made.

airress - hmmm -- now you have me wondering about what my Nordies has in the back room as well. I'm going back today to take pictures!

SoCal - I treated mine with Appleguard and no problems. Water beaded right off!

By the way, I really  the new paddy with the pocket on the front. The large size in Blanc. How beautiful would that be! At first the style overwhemled me, but I think in Blanc with all the gold accents, it's going to be absolutely classy!

We get lots of both here in New England (MA) and my Paddingtons have gotten both rained and snowed on with no drama. I don't deliberately bring them out in rain or snow, but we've been caught in both rain and snow showers unexpectedly. They have dried fine. Only once when I was grocery shopping with my tan Paddy and really heavy downpours started did I grab a plastic bag on the way out to bag my bag! I don't want to risk getting it drenched, but light precipitation has been fine. I never protect my raw leather bags either and even wipe them down with baby wipes after each use. My poor Bowler got a coffee spill this morning, a small one but I still freaked, and it wiped off fine with a baby wipe - good as new!!

If you carry a plastic bag inside your bag you can always whip it out in an unexpected storm and throw your Paddy inside.

I'm psyched to see those pictures Mammab! And scared for my Nordstrom card, LOL. :)

Funny how this fellow New Englander (me!) does the exact same thing, if it starts to rain heavily, the bag goes in a plastic bag!!

But my choco paddy is unprotected and has handled getting a little wet just fine, the water comes right off.

I'm so curious to see this now, any pictures out there??? anyone??

Nawth21 - that is definitely Noir. There are really no excuses for s/a's who don't know their merchandise. That's like a teacher not knowing their subject material - it's just wrong. I can understand there is a learning curve on familiarizing oneself with the brands, bag names and colors, but so many s/a's have been working at these department stores for years and are still clueless! My funniest recollection was a s/a in Colorado who wanted to sell me an "El Dorado" bag. She meant a SILVERado. It was all I could do to stifle my laughter on the phone. The only time their ignorance works in our favor is doing returns - they don't know what flaws to look for and think a peeling lock is normal,, etc.

Where in Boston are you mundo? I'm in Shrewsbury.

Mammab, roey, mundodabolsa, Thanks for the "weather reports". Glad to hear my bag(s) could go "on the road" with no difficulties. :flower:

Has anyone seen the zippy or large bouler paddy in black? If so, is it black-black or grey-black. Thanks!

NM in White Plains, NY and also NM in Paramus, NJ had them as of a couple weeks ago. In Noir, the new grey-black. They could also locate one for you through their system. Mike at White Plains is awesome to work with.

Girls, if I have a Chloe Paddy in sable, do you think this slightly different style (east/west) in cream is too similar??? I don't want to have two of the same bag. I  the sable as it has a pink tinge to it but the cream seems to be a pure cream so it should be different enough? Trying to justify here  Any thoughts?

I think they are different enough - some people have 10 black bags, just because each bag is a different style. I love the sable (you are so lucky to have one) and the new cream is gorgeous too. GO for it. :D

Thanks! What did you think of the noir color?

I agree! I have the satchel and bowler in chocolate - different styles, and the chocolate color is different on both. I think we all gravitate toward certain colors in bags and to only have one bag for each color is not a good rule. If I bought a cream bag it would barely leave the house. I'd rather have several brown and cognac bags in different styles that will go out and see the light of day versus colors that look nice but will never get used.

I have Noir in the satchel and love it! It is not one of those colors I would have chosen either. Style101 recommended it; she knows my taste and knew I would like it IRL. It is like a slate blue-grey, extremely versatile. Looks fab with pretty much any color. Here is a good representation of the color (source: mine! :D ).
