Chloe S/S 08 Paris

BTW, I'm so sick of these chiffon leggings/trousers that have cropped up everywhere.

I like opaque leggings, but these are gross, IMO.

Very disappointing. The collection isn't completely bad, but the shapes and styling are so Marni. Also, those bags are pretty nasty.
I much preferred Chloé under Phoebe.

its better than last season. I am just kinda over this whole marni-esque style.

I actually really like the prints though

Some of the dresses are really nice, but I agree with everyone who said it's too Marni.

well it will be interesting to see how this will fare commercially. So far the newly done up chloe store in new york , hasnt been recieved well by customers according to a friend who works there. Thing is chloe is more of a commercial brand , chic fashion for young women . I give him a year or 2 tops .

Not good, not good at all.

I'm so utterly sick of straight mini silhouettes. These could easily be bought at any number of mid-level mass market boutiques, so why pay the Chloe pricetag.

I would love to see him take his tougher, sleeker image he had last season and develop it more with a more high fashion attention to detail.

yes yes.. so many comments like 'this is not chloe' etc. etc. :ninja:
you know, if you look at the first collections of chloe, the ones by the woman who started the chloe brand, Gaby Aghion, they might not look like 'chloe' either, whatever that is
they do not look like Philo's chloe
brands change

and i don't see Marni

AND I don't think it's too Marni, cause only Chloé's atelier can produce flou like this. Marni couldn't.

I don't even want to think about the clothes but I will probably love it in a month :innocent:.

I really hate the atmosphere of Chloe shows at the moment, I mean by the lighting etc. It's so dull and grey. I want the real atmosphere Philo created, it was lively and bright. I guess it suits the clothes...

It's new, it's creative and it's exciting. You should enjoy that. Without "caring" about the heritage of Chloé.

It's fashion. Thank god that Chloé isn't reproducing bs vintage anymore, it was lame.

I loved it. Feels very now and I'm relieved that at least some houses can still produce creative, challenging collections. Sometimes that's all we need.

anyway design-wise, i think the collection's quite interesting ^_^ the way he's using asymmetrical patchwork, the many layers, exposed edges for texture, and just the way things drape over the body by hanging from a tie or something
i think someone interested in design could learn a lot from Paulo's work

i'm wondering though, if others aren't seeing the odd details here and there, especially the customers, if it's even worth mentioning :mellow:i just like the fact it looks normal and easy to wear from a distance but on inspection it's pretty unique

Designers gravitate to companies that already suit their own taste obviously. Most of the time they leave a mark of their own not the other way around, so if his work seems SOOO marni it's probably because he was the catalyst for that look much like Margiela's influence was so apparent at Gaultier when he was there.
You can't just wake up and be a different person every 6 months. There is a BIG difference between the expectations of the infotainment sectors like magazines and TV and the boutiques and customers who ACTUALLY BUY THE COLLECTION. Continuity is revered, not revilled as it seems to be on TFS season after season.
One can always apply for the job itself too...
