Gilmore Girls

Only a month to go, I can't wait to see it.

^I don't like Jess either. He's definitely very handsome and him and Rory (Alexis Bledel) were a couple in real life and I think they met here so maybe I was excited because they fell in love in real life and you can see sparks flying but he definitely wasn't good for her. Although I do give him credit because I think he's the reason Rory goes back to school, I think he convinced her.
I'll miss Richard, I've never really a fan of Emily, I liked Richard much, much more. Especially his relationship with Rory, I love how close they were.
And as far as Sookie is concerned, I wouldn't miss her at all if she didn't come back. I always found her annoying.

I was talking about that - Rory and Jess - to another tFSer on FB. I believe his older self could make a perfect friend for Rory, but I seriously hope she finds someone new by the end of the mini series (or end up alone. I'll be fine either way). I can honestly say that I hated all of her boyfriends, Jess included. Logan was close to being the real deal by the end of the show, but I always disliked his character so, so much (it didn't help that Matt Czuchry was always overacting to the point of being insufferable) that I could never really understand his appeal to her. I like how close they got by the beginning of season 7 - they felt like a real life couple at times - but I could never get over the fact that, in the end, he was just a reformed playboy.

And I agree about Richard. He'll be sorely missed.

I grew up watching this cause it was sandwiched between two shows I was addicted to (Dawson's Creek, lol) so knowing more or less the plot I gave the Netflix show a try. Winter gives a bad impression I think.. I hated it, especially Lorelai, who always reminded me of my mother haha (evasive, selfish, immature, forever 16..), I think Emily sums her up well in that episode, but (as with my own mother I guess) in the rest of the episodes, you accept that's just how she is, unorthodox.. and kind of fragile I guess, I warmed up to her again. :D

Re Rory, I think the show did a good job portraying the current problems of this generation, especially post crisis and the situation everyone at this age keep finding themselves in regardless of their education background. It's so sad. Also relate a lot to the moral dilemma she's in, and the meaningless relationship she has until the last episode. I read criticism on how she was so promising when she was young and now she's disappointingly not (Vogue.com), but I think they actually made her character more human and also realistic with the sensibility she always had, which can turn into a burden later in life. And that ending, omg.. she'll be fine, but.... especially if it's Logan's, he's kind of worthless, I mean all of his value can be printed out at the bank.. :meow:

Also, is it me or that moment with Dean was a bit random? who would get that emotional running into an old bf even if it's your first love.. unless you're projecting current dissatisfaction (which she probably is).. he seems more like a reminder that things can always be worse in life (you're working for the local zine, boo hoo, but at least you're not raising 4 kids and onto your second divorce in middle of nowhere).

I just finished watching the new episodes. I had guessed the last two words, but I always thought they'd be spoken by Lorelai, not Rory. To me, that right there just opened a whole array of possibilities for new episodes and a new series. And somehow, I think it's Jess', not Logan's. That last scene he has with Luke kind of hints at something else going on between him and Rory.

All I can think of now is that a new "A Year in the Life" is practically mandatory. I need new episodes. I never knew how much I missed this show.

I was super excited about The reboot but what a disappointment - parts where almost unwatchable.
The story lines were so mediocre - I was shocked. The only good story was Emily's.
At least it was logical.

I can honestly say I loved every moment of it, warts and all. I especially enjoyed "Summer" and "Fall" - the latter felt like one big, much deserved tribute to Richard/Ed Hermann.

ETA: one of the highlights of the reboot to me was Rory's storyline. It felt painfully real and struck so many chords with me (except for the very last part, of course. I don't plan on ever going that route).
