Interview October 2010 : Naomi Campbell by Mert Alas & Marcus Pigott

I'm glad a model has graced the cover. Naomi deserves it. Although, I'm not a fan of her recent work. I think she has too much work done on her face, not to mention her reputation.

I could not agree more with your comment. :D
Her latest work for the last 2 or 3 years, including her Vogue Italia (2008) and Vogue Russia (Naomi Special) performances disappointed me knowing how expressive she used to be....This INTERVIEW cover for me is a great return to a great photograph from Naomi. Going to look at the ed now:)

the cover and ed are amazing, i never get tired of seeing Naomi, and i'm really attracted to this kind of images, i feel that she gets very little work compared to Kate Moss, i want to see her in VP.^_^
good job interview!B)

Why Pedro?

I think there is no need to use all this violence (and the use of blood) in a fashion editorial, and even more when the protagonist has an image already fairly maligned and that in no way contributes to improve its reputation, on the contrary.

testinofan i want to view the pucci editorial but i don't think imagetitan is safe so is there any chance you can give me a link to the page they came from? :)

the cover is the best thing so far. i really dislike the main ed and abbey's doesn't excite me either.

Ahh dying over the cover!! The ed is nice but a little too much with the violence. Naomi still has it in her after all these years..

Okay seriously, M&M needs to stop blatantly using Klein's aesthetic & start making it into their own.

Hmm, not keen on Naomi's ed for the repetitive expression or the feel of the images.

Naomi's ed could've been fantastic. I love the concept, but yet it lacks of convinction. Naomi had the opportunity to show us her best b*tch faces and yet she's only standing here looking beautiful.

There's a popular misconception that models are in charge of their expressions on fashion shoots. Most often, it's quite the contrary. The concept or theme is explained to the model, and the model is expected to interpret that concept. And if the model were to go rogue on the shoot and burst out laughing or show a look that the editorial team or photographer doesn't agree with, the shot gets tossed. 10 or so photos are selected out of (sometimes) hundreds of shots -- and the shots that are selected are those that fit the conceptual vision.

Yes, Naomi had the opportunity to show us her best b*tch faces, but in the end, it's not up to her to present that face. And really -- in my opinion -- that would have been too predictable.

Naomi's ed is really Klein-esque. But I do really love it so much...it's my favorite theme for an editorial...can;t wait to see Andrew Garfield's ed

^Anna looks great! Thanks for posting.

Thanks Pedro!

Such a beautiful editorial, the final shot is the highlight for me...I hope big things will happen for Robbie Fimmano.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Models have little control of their entire look on a fashion shoot, they are told what to do and if they are good, as Naomi surely is, they do it.
