It doesn't seem fair to compare real self harmer's with a starlet who has scratched herself in a place that she knows will be highly visible to the multiple photographers that follow her everywhere.

My thoughts exactly. She seems to be so so desperate for attention.
Yeah she's troubled etc. but she can only blame herself. She's been to rehab like what, 3 or 4 times? And she still continues to party all night and live a very public life.

oh dear. after reading a few pages of this thread ol lindsbags needs to sort herself out! The irony that she went from one of 'the in crowd' to an outsider, and now she is obviously freaking out about it.

Get a grip love--focus on your art. Take a 3 months holiday somewhere and relax. Just quit the madness! Poor thing.

I think this is the most serious sign- she has gotten help several times, she has publicly acknowledged her problems (In spite of the few who seem to constantly say "Leave her alone, she's fine, she looks great, I love her purse..."), walked around with books showing what meetings she was going to, had support from others- and the deep and total denials continue...If she had never been through all of this, I'd be more optimistic that she could get some help- but she is spiraling out of control and evidently no one is addressing it...I only hope she can get serious help somewhere before it's too late...

Those cuts are identical to self-harm markings that people (myself included, in the past thankfully) who cut themselves with razors have.
Doesnt take a rocket scientist to come up with that they were self-inflicted, not bramble scratches.

Certainly nothing to joke over.

They may be but until we see actual proof then I suggest we all just let it go. Narrowing it down to just that is silly. It could literally be anything.
My doctors thought the burn marks on my arms were form self harm but they were actually from lawn mower engines my arms would rub up against during my summer job a few long summers ago.

It could be, but then again, her cuts also couldnt be from self harm

What else to narrow it down to ? Unless you've been a self-harmer yourself I take it you dont understand, foreverandnone.
I think pigs would fly before we see her in public with a razor or kitchen/butcher knife to her wrists. I doubt we'll actually get candids or pap shots of her cutting her arms. Who knows though right? Maybe she'll have a Britney meltdown and be 5150'ed.

I'm no psychiatrist but she seems to right now be in a bad place in her life where inflicting self-harm (cutting) gives her some form of release.

Anyway these posts will be moved to her Rumor Has It thread anyway but I hope she gets better, the impulses to hurt yourself can come at any time, and since she appears to be alone quite often, she's got plenty of opportunities.

You do not know who and who does not have any experience with such things and assumptions like that are best left out of tfs posts.
(talking about that stuff and your own experiences should actually be censored on this forum in my opinion or make a specific thread for it/)
Im not DENYING she has this problem Im simply stating there is no real way to prove it is..or isnt.

^Fair point, but what else could cause those marks? A huge, fat cat with enormous razor-like nails? I have five cats and, believe me when I say this, I have cut marks all over my arms and hands, but they look nothing like Lindsay's. In my honest opinion, at best, she's doing that to herself with her own nails instead of a knife or a razor, the same way she's always scratching her head (probably for some other reason we cannot discuss here).

^ Well- we don't really know, and it's a medical issue...But, if you were to look in an Abnormal Psychology or Personality Disorders textbook, you'd see she is displaying pretty much every manifestation of the sort of problems she has previously admitted to having...I don't think it's hard to draw a reasonable conclusion. You know the old saying: If it walks like a duck, and it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck- it's probably a duck...

i still think its an unfair conclusion. We dont even know whats going on in her life. We look at pictures and read what gossip mags tell us. We believe what should be taken as pure entertainment.

Her whole image is based on rumors and lies; gossip and photos. I just do not think its a fair conclusion and still say i do not deny she has problems but i cant confirm it either.

The damage she's doing to herself, whatever it is, it just shows in every picture. There's no way someone can deny it. Does she look her age to you, or does she look like someone who leads a healthy life? If Lindsay looks normal and all we're writing are just careless assumptions, then I don't know what normal is anymore and I probably won't be "assuming" anything anymore about her.

smoking and tanning is a lot of what people do, doesnt necessarily mean shes dying on the inside. Everyone stresses out and everyone has bad days. Youd look like that too if the paparazzi were up in your face taking photos of you that make you look terrible.

and what do we define as a healthy life? Who made the cookie cutter definition for that.

and what defines normal? There are many flaws to everyones argument here.
Norms are set by society for what?

i can see how she LOOKS terrible but still. i dunno. its just hard to accuse her of these things

And then add in her past, rather serious, medical and legal problems...I tend to doubt all the many night club stories and wild eyed pictures are made up- and of course the bizarre late night twitter messages...It's not like she has a bad weekend or whatever and then gets herself together for a while- these things are going on all the time now...If she were my girlfriend or sister I would be very concerned- hard to deny that it's getting pretty bad.

That's right, X17online caught 15-year-old Ali Lohan trying to sneak out the back door of Crown Bar after partying with her big sister/bad influence Lindsay all night.
In the first video, Lindsay enters the back of [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]the bar[/FONT] with some friends, leaving Ali behind. But Ali somehow snuck in just [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]10 minutes[/FONT] later, and stayed with her big sis in [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]the club[/FONT] until right before closing, when we spotted Ali running out to the waiting SUV (second vid)!
