Lanvin for H&M (Update....Second Collection?)

SO excited for this.

I think what he probably meant by that comment is that they (h&m WITH Alber) have managed to emulate the quality of Lanvin but make it accessible by the price, not that anyone could or that h&m could do it without him...

I personally think it's great that such a well-loved brand will be available to people who can't usually afford it.

how is that any different?

that, too, would in theory mean that products which Lanvin charges thousands of dollars for could essentially be produced and sold for a fraction of the cost.

take for example a jacket, for which Lanvin could charge $1800 for. the likely price for such an item at H&M would probably be in the ballpark of $200. if the quality is exactly the same, as Elbaz says, then Lanvin is either getting an additional $1600 profit out of it (rough figures, of course). Or alternatively, they are paying that amount too much for its production, if it can infact be produced at H&M costs.

now this of course is not true, saying there is no difference in quality between H&M and Lanvin is absolutely ridicilous. this is where Elbaz is selling out big time, and why I lost a significant amount of respect for him. not because he is doing a collection for H&M, which already might upset some, but because he is talking crap about it in order to sell.

I don't really get that comment. What do you mean line up for it without having seen it? It goes on the site on the 5th, and then collection launches the 23rd - slightly differing depending on what country you're in.

So that's two and bit weeks to decide if there's anything you'd like to line up for..

I was referring to the fact that people are already making the decision to line up for the product which they have not seen, or making financial plans according to this.

It's actually posted on the Vogue Paris twitter, however it does say Vogue.com and not Vogue.fr in the post... Although don't know about other countries, but if I type Vogue.com in it takes me directly to my own country's site.

yup, same in the whole world. which is why i can't go to GQ.com during fashion week cause i'll get directed to the sucky as$ german GQ site.

if it's 9AM Paris then WHOOPEE! how come they tweet in english tho?

That looks great but I can't help but think it's going to look so cheap when in stores... I know it's H&M and I shouldn't expect an amazing quality coming from them, but still...

Support you so much.

Some people are really innocent enough to deduce all those big designers could do amazing quality under mid-priced budget for mass market. That makes me laugh.

If there's no difference between a Lanvin piece and a Lanvin-H&M piece, how ridiculous and embarrassing could it be to design a collaboration line as a so-called high Fashion designer? Less production, cheaper fabric, that's the basis of a H&M collaboration, or the budget would be really awful. You expect to buy a Lanvin jacket under few hundred dollars? All you can buy is similar look authorized by Lanvin, without being caught as a copy cat.

I'm not impressed. Isn't this the usual garb that H&M produces? If I hadn't know that Alber Elbaz and Lanvin were involved, I wouldn't have guessed that it were any different from H&M's usual collections. The charm of Lanvin for me lies in the way its luxe fabrics drape, flow and move. Translated into H&M's 'sateen' and polyesters, that charm is completely lost. Twinned with those cheap-looking strings of pearl, it all looks... well, cheap.

what Lanvin model does that bag on the floor (right bottom corner) resemble?

I don't see a bag? I see a silver tray that's been put outside of a hotel room suite... as it's set in a hotel isn't it?

Well, I presume you meant the object in the right hand corner of the ad campaign image!
