Lanvin for H&M (Update....Second Collection?)

i just hope that in time the prices will drop on ebay that's my only hope i guess because i think the online store will be v. v. v. busy on tuesday :(

3 more days...I hate it when they are being bias toward the guys when it comes to fashion show!!

does anyone know who went today what were the most popular items?

in boston everything was sold out and shop was closed by 9 40am...

managed to get two dresses = ruffled bronze dress and the black version of the famous yellow dress.

However i got my hands on these through negotiating outside the dressing room because when I went into the pen at 9 05 there was nothing remotely in my size nor in any size for that matter. I agree it is SO sad many people buy in bulk to flip and make a profit.

I just read on Gothamist someone got stabbed at H&M in NY.

Killer fashion eek.

i just came back and the sunglasses sold out first FAST. apparently some person grabbed the whole table...really annoying.

the collection really was well made. i was talking to one of the associates while in line and mentioned that the blazers looked nice on the employees who tried them on. i got one and the fabric is great and there are so many small details that made the blazer great. there were so many hidden pockets and the buttons were ace!

ooooooooooookay!!

LAWD HAMMERCY, children!! i need a 5oz glass of scotch to calm my nerves after the absolute mayhem at H&M.

so, it as a bloody SNOWSTORM in Vancouver last night. which is a complete rarity. i was working until about 2am, then i headed down to the H&M to see what was going on with the line-up. there were about 200 people there already. 198 of them were asian. lol. and there were 5 tents. TENTS! people had chairs and blankets and were all huddled together. pretty awesome! it was only about 20% men, and they were all medium-sized asian guys. i'm 6'2", 185lbs ... so i figured that my sizes would be safe. i also figured that there wouldn't be anymore joiners until the proper morning, so i went home to sleep for a couple hours and headed back down at 6am.

by that time, they had made a special lineup for the guys, and it was inside the mall. HEAVEN! so i didn't have to wait in the snowstorm. the line grew and grew, but as i had expected, not many had joined in the middle of the night, so i was relatively close to the front. perhaps 30 guys in.

they brought cookies and coffee for us all. and then at 8am the doors opened ...

MAYHEM ENSUED!

i can quite literally and without an ounce of exaggeration tell you that the entire men's collection was off the racks in less than 6 minutes. people were grabbing ARMLOADS of whatever they could grab. and to be honest - the men's collection was NOT a huge stock. for example, they only had about 10 pairs of shoes. period.

being only 30 people from the front, i still missed out on the sunglasses, the blue/red bowties, the checkered blazer, the leopard tee, and the purple/blue shoes.

i managed to get the blazer with the navy lapels and a pair of cool pants, plus the navy cardigan. but that was it.

the trench coat -- which i was completely lusting over -- was not the material i was expecting. it was more of a nylon, thin, polyester kinda material. probably useful, but not soft and luxe like i was hoping. so i didn't bother with it.

anyway, after about 20 minutes, people started to try and trade things and a few things were set back on the racks, only to be VERY quickly snatched up by someone else (including myself. i got the light blue dress shirt like this. and it's a gorgeous, soft, linen).

all told, was very fun. love the stuff i got. was out of there in an hour.

i could hear over the intercom a man saying, about every 10 minutes, "ok, now people wearing a ______ bracelet, GO GO GO!" lol. i'm sure it was complete madness down there. but thankfully the men's stuff was all separate.

... and that was my H&M Lanvin collection story!

Wow, thanks for sharing your stories. Totally doesn't make me want to do this anymore. Stabbing someone for a H&M collection, really? That's ridiculous and scary. I think I might just pass on this one after all. I can probably get something I love more than the pieces of that collection in a good designer outlet without having to wait for hours in the freezing cold and risk getting attacked by crazy women

All the stories sound insane, I'm so glad I didn't take part of this. In hindsight, I don't think I really wanted anything, I wanted Elbar to do pleats like he used to (a hundred years ago) and he didn't..

That being said, does anyone know if they restock eventually?. It's been two hours since doors were opened at my not-so-nearby store and it's already sold out. And it's cold and raining so I didn't line up.. but I would like to check some of the coats out.. when the weather allows.

I hope this won't happen here. Shopping is supposed to be fun, there's no way I want to fight with some crazy b*tches just to get my hands on a few stuff. Regarding people getting armloads of stuff, I feel like there should be a policy about that, like no more than 3 pairs of sunglasses per person etc.

Ladies,

I just got back from the West Hollywood location. I was in the 5th group. Make sure you know what you want. Though the staff replenished the pieces for every group, certain items were immediately out of stock, specifically the skirt and sheer blouse to my dismay. The 2-6 sizes ran out pretty fast. Size down as the collection is a size bigger than h&m. The quality of footwear were questionable. The bow ties were lovely. The men's pieces sold out fast. I had to claw my way for their accessories. The line for the fitting room was ridic. My advice: hoard now! Try them on at home to avoid the madness. You can always return them later.

apparently some person grabbed the whole table...really annoying.

When you're only allowed to buy one of each item, I think that's highly unlikely that that happened.

I'm trying it online on Tuesday morning, see if I can get anything. If not, I'll head down to the store.

The fact it's a Tuesday is going to effect exactly how many people are there I imagine. Choo launched on a Saturday and caused absolute mayhem because of it, but a Tuesday is going to mean only people not working, or who have actually taken holiday for it are going to be able to be there! Same as when the collections used to launch on Thursdays previously.

There wont be too much replenishment of stock happening, but there is a lot of consolidation. Usually they'll clear out what's left from the stores stocking it and send it all to one place - in London it all got sent to Oxford Circus and came out of Bond Street etc.

Oh god, the dresses are absolutely hideous and tacky in real life. H&M was a MAD HOUSE today. I just came home, and all I got was a shirt/tunic with the embellishments. I'm super happy with it because it's super cute and goes well with any (black) mini skirt or skinny jeans. It's a size M, but turned out a bit looser so I suggest sizing down. There was a skirt for like $100 and the quality was so, so poor. Same with the coats, I really didn't like them. :(

The popular dresses I noticed were the the floral printed ones, and also the sheer panel red and black ones. The floral one isn't so bad, but again, the quality on the others turned me off. Also because everybody was grabbing them I didn't want to have what EVERYONE was buying. All of the dresses were $199 except the big poofy ones, I think those were around $249.

Overall, the selection wasn't as big as I expected. Maybe it's because I came two hours later, but I still had higher hopes. Oh well, I'm happy with my purchases!

these stories are making me happy i stayed home. I really liked the collection, but my time and sanity are more valueable to me. Its a shame the collections can't be marketed in a way that makes it less crazy, but I am sure H&M loves the attention and sales this is bringing them.
